Originally from Sydney Australia and currently based in Chicago, Illinois
Wes has been shooting across multiple disciplines.
From single camera ENG to multi-camera OB's, Wes has worked as a
cameraman internationally on network reality television, documentaries,
shorts, a handful of feature films, sports, commercials and in the studio. He
has shot extensive live news and can confidently direct talent. Most recently,
he was one of 7 shooters on the successful reality show 'Street Outlaws' for
Pilgrim Films & TV, airing on Discovery Channel.
Starting with a keen interest in the craft at the age of 14 as a volunteer
cameraman at church, Wes has logged thousands of hours behind the
camera. He is exceptional at collaborating with others on a multi-camera
shoot to create beautiful shots on-the-fly, or on his own to shoot & deliver a
story, sizzle, or exactly what is required to an exceptional level.
After completion of a Communications degree in 2001, Wes began working
for Australia's Nine Network where he received valuable experience within a
live broadcast environment before going freelance.
Wesley's career thus far has seen him shooting abroad throughout 10
countries. He is competent with a wide range of camera and broadcast
equipment, and strives to keep his knowledge of equipment and techniques
up-to-date. But his skill-set does not lie solely within the camera dept.
Extensive knowledge of the lighting dept has seen him work as a Grip on the
set of ‘So You Think You Can Dance Australia’, 'Extreme Makeover' and as a
location tech on Australia's successful soap, ‘Home and Away’ as well as in
the studio lighting and shooting promos, interviews, talk shows and green-
screen.
Finally, Wes is a skilled editor and EVS operator. He maintains two suites in
his home; a PC running Adobe, and a Mac running Final Cut Pro and Adobe
With a very strong work ethic and a pride in his craft, his passion & drive is a
credit to whomever he works with.
