2. Adolphe Sax, the inventor
Adolphe Sax moved to
Paris in 1842 and
registered his invention
the saxophone in 1846.
The saxophone has a
metal body and is
played with a single
beating reed, which
the player controls
through his or her
mouth tightness.
There are eight
different sizes of
saxophones in the sax
family.
3. Parts of the saxophone
Body

6. Our Saxophonist
This is Ricardo Márquez. He is a professional
saxophonist. He has a Bachelor in Contemporary
Chamber Music at UNLA. He studied classical
saxophone at the Faculty of Arts of the University of
Chile. He has a postgraduate degree in "Modern
Composition" at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory,
Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was saxophonist and
director of the "Urban Saxophone Quartet",
saxophonist of the "Universidad de Chile Symphony
Band" directed by Eduardo Brown and of "Los
Musicantes" directed by Sebastián Errázuriz.
He had dedicated towards education for over 20 years
and trained students in a personalized and institutional
way.

from musical interpretation and investigation in improvisation and
composition.”
