  • 1. China  Light  Festival   Discover  a  tradition  that  China  has  celebrated  for  centuries  
  • 2. For  centuries,  lanterns  and  lampions  have  been  lit  on  the  fiftheenth  day  of  the  first   month  in  the  Chinese  calender  to  pray  for  a  good  harvest,  and  gain  to  favour  of  Taiyi,   god  of  heaven.     A  Chinese  tradition...  
  • 3. A  legend  tells  of  a  god  who  wanted  to  punish  the  human  race  by  setting  fire  to  the  earth.  An   old,  wise  man  hit  upon  an  ingenious  solution:  he  got  people  to  light  torches,  lanterns  and   fireworks,to  fool  the  god.  Make  him  believe  the  world  was  already  burning,  and  left     mankind  in  peace.     The  origin  of  Chinese  light  festivals  
  • 4. Till  today,  the  lantern  festivals  are  still  held  each  year  around  the  country.  Each  major  Chinese   city  has  its  own  light  festival.  They  attract  millions  of  visitors  and  tourists.      
  • 5. During  Chinese  New  Year,  families  go  out  to  watch  the  beautiful   lanterns  and  light  objects,  made  by  Chinese  artists.Each  light  object   tells  a  legend,  sage  or  symbolizes  an  old  Chinese  story.

  • 8. A  group  of  Chinese  artists  and   craftsmen  of  China  Light  Festival   B.V.  will  make  the  objects  on  the   spot.  In  a  few  weeks,  the  whole   festival  location  will  be  transformed   into  a  magical    Chinese  wonderland.    
  • 9. The  exhibition  of  enchanting  light  objects  includes  a  100+-­‐metre-­‐long   dragon,  a  huge  Temple  of  Heaven,  the  famous  panda s    and  other   fantastical  characters,  flowers  and  animals.
