2. Top Health Care Services UAE Residents want to be covered
Twenty nine percent of those who are insured say that basic health care
services are not included in their insurance plans. This includes dental (53
per cent), full coverage (20 per cent), optical (17 per cent) and regular
checkups (13 per cent).
Because of the lack of coverage in these
medical treatments, the mentioned services are
what UAE residents want in their insurance
plans.
Researchers found that most of the correspondents (42%) want dental care
services to be included in their health insurance policies. Thirty-percent
reports that they prefer full coverage for medical treatments. About 10% of
the participants reported that optical care and laser treatments are their
priorities when it comes to health insurance plans; 7% says that regular
checkups must be included in policies.
3. Others reported services such as maternity care (7%) and medicines and
vitamins (5%) must be covered by medical insurance. About 4 percent says
that surgeries, including cosmetic treatments must be included. Some of the
surveyed participants shared that coverage for surgeries are important
because usually the costs are expensive and the treatment is extremely
necessary to prevent risks to health and life. Still, others claimed that
insurance plans must include international health coverage (3%).
The research reveals, though, that 69% of the surveyed participants who
currently hold insurance plans are satisfied with their coverage.
The UAE has undergone major changes in the health insurance industry in
the recent years. The Abu Dhabi government recently implemented
mandatory health care for all employees; a range of choices for health
insurance plans were made available for expats in the region, etc. With all
these developments, the public are hoping that further changes will make
access to health care services more affordable.
