management team with the County Attorney

sexism, ageism, poverty, domestic violence and drug and alcohol abuse/addiction
 Seven years as a Peer Grant Reviewer for the Department of Justice - Washington D.C.
 While working for the county attorney’s office, in collaboration with law enforcement and
a community restorative justice educational program, developed and managed a juvenile
first time offender diversion program
 Co-created a culturally specific class for Christian men modeled after an existing
culturally specific class for Native American men at the DAIP
 Key note speaker for “East Meets West”, an international conference on domestic
violence in Vienna, Austria, 1990
 Assisted New Zealand in creating a standardized parallel National Coordinated
Community Response to domestic violence for Maori and non Maori populations, 1991
 Excellent interviewing, investigative, communication and leadership skills
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT / SUPERVISION EXPERIENCE
Domestic Abuse Intervention Programs:
 Coordinated all aspects of the men’s batterer’s intervention program for the Domestic
Abuse Intervention Programs in Duluth, MN, (The Duluth Model) which is a part of the
local Coordinated Community Response to Violence (CCR). Our CCR is a system wide
intervention strategy which incorporates women’s shelters, the local criminal justice
system, police, probation, healthcare systems and faith communities and is practiced
throughout the U.S. to enhance victim’s safety, offender accountability and offender
rehabilitation
 Hired, trained and supervised all men’s class facilitators
 Participated with law enforcement, court system, social services and Safe Haven 
 Shelter to develop policies and procedures which enhance victim’s rights, safety,
offender accountability/opportunities for change and monitored cases and trend
 Worked with St. Louis County judges to standardize Order for Protection proceedings
 Co-facilitate weekly men’s nonviolence classes for the past 20 years
 As a Trainer for the National Training Project, Duluth, MN, I train nationally and
internationally on the prevention and intervention of domestic violence, working with
police officers, social service staff, mental health therapists, educators, criminal justice
workers, faith communities, military personnel, etc. Currently, most of my trainings are
on “Creating a Process of Change for Men Who Batter” curriculum (DAIP)
 As Men’s Program Coordinator for the Domestic Abuse Intervention Program, provided
training in Italy, Austria and assisted the New Zealand government in the development of
a national Coordinated Community Response to Violence
Victim Witness Services Division, St. Louis County Attorney’s Office:
 As Director, managed overall operations of the Victim/Witness Services Division of the
St Louis County Attorney’s Office, which includes a Specialized Family Violence Unit
 Supervised Victim/Witness Advocates in Duluth, Virginia and Hibbing, MN
 Case Manager for victims of crime caseload
 Provided in house resources as well as liaison to community resources
 Provided diversity training for County Attorney’s Office, a staff of 71
 Provided crisis counseling, advocacy and legal rights to domestic violence victims
 Acted as liaison between crime victims, prosecutors and the criminal justice system
 Provided leadership in National and State programs for victim’s rights
 Provided community education and outreach presentations regarding Victim/Witness
services on topics related to crime victimization, prevention and the criminal justice
system
 Managed and supervised college intern program
 Provided assistance to legal staff in all aspects of cases including service of subpoenas,
notification and preparation of witnesses to testify

 Sea Mar Community Health Centers:
 As Program Developer, Manger and Domestic Violence Perpetrator Treatment
Supervisor, I developed programming, trained counselors, obtained program certification
from DSHS, implemented programming in English and Spanish, provided counseling
and participated on community interdisciplinary team

CURRICULM / PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
 In conjunction with Barbara Jones-Schroyer and the Domestic Abuse Intervention
Programs, created a culturally specific men’s nonviolence class for men with Christian
beliefs and a curriculum and documentary called Changing Men, Changing Lives
(CMCL). CMCL provides a relevant perspective for organizations working to address
domestic violence and is a part of the coordinated community response to domestic 

 In coordination with the sexual assault program and the women’s shelter in Duluth,
assisted in the development of a sexual and domestic abuse prevention curriculum and
taught it in the Duluth, MN public schools
 Co-created and taught a teen violence curriculum and video 
 Helped in creation of a domestic abuse play “Will You Hold My Child?
 “Responding to Abuse in Christian Homes”, co-author (2000)
 Featured on national news “Sunday Today With Charles Kurault” - (1991)
