“X” marks added capability for any driver, on most any road. With a push of a button, X-Mode takes
control of the engine, transmission, AWD, brakes, and other components to safely navigate through
bad roads, and slippery surfaces for maximum confidence. For challenging descents, Hill Descent
Control enhances confidence down the steepest of hills you’ll encounter by providing constant,
controlled momentum so the driver can focus more on steering the vehicle, and less on braking.
The Forester was engineered to help you conquer ledges, rocks, trees and other obstacles you
may encounter without sustaining damage or getting stuck. The larger the object, the larger
the approach and departure angles needed to prevent damage to the front and rear bumper.
Optimised for both, the Forester’s ground clearance maximises break-over angles, minimising
your chances of being hung-up from underneath.

You’ll do enough reaching, pulling and lifting when you’re out there riding, climbing and living.
The power rear gate will take some of the work out of loading. Use the switch on the instrument
panel, the gate or the key fob and it opens or closes automatically.
The side sills have been designed to be low as possible yet resist collecting dirt to keep your
Forester looking clean. So they help shoes and clothes keep from collecting dirt as the family gets
in and out on all the adventures you’ll be having.
The backseat step was designed to ease entry and exiting for small children. To make your day go
smoother, the wider, non-slip surface has been well placed so knees land on soft floor mats instead
of hard plastic.

inspiring confidence behind the wheel, thanks to the inherently stable design of Symmetrical AWD paired with the uniquely
balanced SUBARU BOXER engine. This system delivers power to all four wheels at all times for enhanced control on all
roads and in poor conditions. It has excellent side-to-side balance and handling precision, thanks to its main components
being aligned longitudinally, whilst its low centre of gravity creates an especially engaging and responsive drive. The unique
advantages of Symmetrical AWD make for exceptionally rewarding handling and empower you to better avoid danger.

Increased Stability Long-lasting Performance
Because the engine block has a flatter profile and sits lower
in the chassis, the overall vehicle is more stably balanced and
resistant to side-to-side motion than other designs.
The engine’s flat design is inherently rigid and self-balancing,
generating less vibration than “V-type” or “in-line” engines
for more durability and more reliable performance.
Front SuspensionRear Suspension
A firmer front suspension gives the Forester a positive balance
between ride comfort and handling over a variety of surfaces. For
DIT models, the front suspension is further stiffened with higher
spring rates to enhance roll control and improve response. The new
friction-control oil seals, guide bushings and hydraulic fluid on the
struts also work together to smoothen out minor vibrations during
initial acceleration.
For the first time, high-response valves for the rear shock absorber
have been adopted to maximise stability and provide increased
responsiveness. And for the DIT model, a rear support sub-frame
has been added for a more rigid base to mount the rear suspension.
Working together they make the rear of the Forester feel more
controlled and the steering more responsive.

our vehicles inspire confidence through peace of mind on the road. The Forester aims to provide a stress-
free driving experience, the capability and safety to conquer challenges and overcome adversity, making
your adventures that much more rewarding. Many of the same features that help make the Forester more
enjoyable to drive also contribute to its serious dedication to keeping its occupants out of harm’s way.
The stable, responsive handling of its Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive can enhance control in virtually any
weather conditions. And the SUBARU BOXER engine enhances this security, thanks to its lower centre
of gravity, creating an even closer connection to the road. Its standard Vehicle Dynamics Control and
generously sized brakes endow it with athletic reflexes, whilst fluid-filled mounts suppress excessive
vibration, encouraging more confidence behind the wheel.
The standard 4-wheel disc brakes feature lightweight aluminium rear calipers and a strong, reassuring
brake feel. The Antilock Braking System (ABS) includes Electronic Brake-force Distribution, to reapportion
front/rear braking pressure when the vehicle is loaded. To ensure maximum braking during an emergency,
the Forester features both Brake Assist and Brake Override. There’s also Subaru Hill Holder that helps
prevent rollback when starting off on a 5% or steeper grade, by applying the electronic parking brake and
automatically releasing it once you’re underway. The DIT model adds larger 17-inch ventilated discs in
front and 16-inch ventilated discs for the rear, further enhancing the overall driving performance over many
surfaces you may encounter.
Standard on every Forester, the Vehicle
Dynamics Control (VDC) monitors and
analyses if the vehicle is following the driver’s
intended course via an array of sensors. If the
vehicle approaches the limits of stability whilst
cornering or avoiding an obstacle, the AWD
torque distribution, engine output and brakes
at each wheel are adjusted to assist in keeping
the vehicle on course.

Passive Safety, to better survive a collision.
Standard on Forester are front SRS* airbags, plus front-side,
curtain SRS* airbags and knee SRS* airbags. Height-adjustable
front seatbelts feature pretensioners to hold passengers firmly in
place, and load limiters that ease peak forces to the chest. In a rear
collision, front seats utilise rigid frames, firm headrests and such
details as energy-absorbing mounting of the inner seat springs, all to
help reduce the chance of whiplash.
The Forester is designed to protect its occupants with a series
of advanced systems and features, balancing rigid strength with
controlled deformation in key areas to better manage impact
forces. Systematically placed airbags, whiplash-reducing front seats,
retracting pedals and 3-point seatbelts are all part of providing
safety to the occupants directly.
Shock-absorbing space within the vehicle helps reduce pedestrian
injury, as do an energy-absorbing front bumper with a specially
designed area around the windshield wipers. And in order to provide
protection in the head zone, a split-type construction in the front has
been implemented.
The Ring-shaped Reinforcement Frames strengthen the passenger
cabin’s roof, doors, pillars and floor. This design helps divert and
dissipate impact energy away from the occupants in a collision by
use of high-strength materials and strategic placements. While
making it stronger with increased torsional rigidity, the overall
frame is still lightweight.
The all-new Subaru Forester has been awarded the maximum five-
star safety rating in the latest round of Euro NCAP (European New
Car Assessment Programme) safety performance tests.
Every Subaru goes above and beyond common practice when
it comes to your safety. In the event of a head-on collision, your
Forester’s SUBARU BOXER engine and gearbox are designed to
avoid rushing into the cabin for your protection.
