Whitney press report
1. Below, please see Tracy Speed's publicity report for the Lifetime Original Movie,
Whitney, which premiered January 17, 2015. Our campaign kicked off last year
when the movie was announced and at the helm of it would be none other than
Golden Globe Award-winner and Academy Award nominee, Angela Bassett,
followed by our exciting casting news. There was no shortage of TV crews
wanting to come to set to see Angela's directorial debut, including Entertainment
Tonight, Inside Edition, Access Hollywood and Extra. Earlier this month,
Publicity held a star-studded red carpet/screening at the Paley Center for Media
in Beverly Hills, followed by an exclusive reception at Spago. Media coverage
included everyone from Associated Press, Access Hollywood, Inside Edition,
MSNBC, OK! Magazine and a slew of photographers. Prior to the event, Angela
completed an exclusive interview with Extra's Tracey Edmonds, followed by an
interview for Entertainment Tonight, where Yaya joined her. While in town,
Angela and Yaya taped a lengthy piece that aired on ABC's Nightline. Angela
also taped The Real, Talk Stoop and completed a two-hour radio tour, while
Yaya appeared on Access Hollywood Live and Good Day L.A.
Two days later, the cast was reunited at The Langham Hotel in Pasadena for a
TCA (TV Critics Tour) breakfast celebrating Whitney. The impressive turnout for
this resulted in even more stories about the film. Additionally, Angela completed
an exhaustive press tour this week in New York, where she appeared on Good
Morning America, Meredith Vieira, Wendy Williams, Good Day New York,
Live with Kelly & Michael, Watch What Happens Live, The Chew, a two-hour
radio tour at Sirius/XM and an interview on NPR. Print interviews were aplenty,
with Angela and Yaya completing interviews with the New York Post and
Buzzfeed.com, and Angela speaking with the New York Daily News,
McClatchy Newspapers, Closer Magazine, Christian Post, InStylemag.com,
Madamenoire.com, ETonline.com, Elle.com, theRoot.com,
FastCompany.com, FoxNewsMagazine.com, Gracenote (Zap2it.com) and
more. Print stories and highlights included Atlanta Journal-Constitution,
Buffalo News, Boston Globe, Charlotte Observer, Chicago Sun-Times,
Memphis Commercial-Appeal, Cleveland Plain-Dealer, Journal, Denver
Post, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Hartford Courant, Houston Chronicle, Los
Angeles Times, Indianapolis Star, Minneapolis Star-Tribune, New York
Post, New York Beacon, Orlando Sentinel, Pittsburgh Post-
Gazette, Philadelphia Daily News, Newark Star Ledger, USA Today and the
Washington Post. Reviews included The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, New
York Daily News, Houston Chronicle, San Francisco Chronicle, Boston
Herald and the Philadelphia Inquirer, plus highlights or reviews in magazines
such as In Touch, National Enquirer, Entertainment Weekly, Us Weekly,
Essence, Life & Style and TV Guide. Additional cast such as Suzzanne
Douglas, Yolonda Ross and Arlen Escarpeda also did a number of press
appearances and interviews, as well as Deborah Cox, who provided the vocals in
Whitney.
