MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD
SUBJECT: Letter of Recommendation for Officer Candidate School (Dixon, Tony R.
442-84-7981).
To Whom It May Concern:
1. I wholeheartedly recommend (former) SGT Tony Dixon for acceptance to the Officer
Candidate School (OCS) program. SGT Dixon is an exceptional leader and displays all
of the attributes needed to perform the duties of an Officer in the United States Army.
His attention to detail and desire to serve are evident in his character and dedication to his
Soldiers.
2. From my knowledge of SGT Dixon’s job performance during our deployment in 2005
(in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III), especially when I served as his platoon
leader (United States Army, Forward Operating Base Rustamiyah, Baghdad, Iraq), he is
among the top five percent of Non-Commissioned Officers I’ve seen over my career.
3. SGT Dixon consistently embodies a selfless attitude as he has volunteered for, and
often times led, several additional duties. Specific examples of SGT Dixon’s selfless
service include: leading hand-to-hand combative training, physical training, assisting in
mortuary affairs, conducting Warrior Skill Level trainings and volunteering for missions
in addition to his regular duties. These examples of SGT Dixon’s superior leadership
ability and potential represent what can be expected of SGT Dixon as an officer.
4. SGT Dixon has continued to develop himself since the deployment. He has earned a
Bachelor of Business Administration, a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership
and is working toward a Doctor of Education in Leadership. SGT Dixon has also gained
leadership experience by working for a number of companies in supervisory roles. SGT
Dixon is also a highly ranked martial artist who has competed at the local, national and
international level. This remarkable Non-Commissioned Officer, whose potential is
unlimited, would make an excellent addition to the Officer Corps and the Army would
definitely benefit from his leadership ability.
2. 5. I strongly recommend this outstanding NCO without hesitation for selection to Officer
Candidate School. Again, if SGT Dixon is selected for this honor, I am confident that all
Soldiers, Non-Commissioned Officers and Officers he comes in contact with will benefit
from his values, work ethic and professionalism.
