Tom Cotter has been an outstanding employee at Yachting Victoria for three years, starting in a casual role before being promoted to leadership positions and eventually managing the organization's busiest training center. During his time managing The Boatshed, Tom improved operations, grew participation, and achieved the first surpluses in the business unit's history. Tom Cotter has been an outstanding employee for Yachting Victoria and I would
have no hesitation in recommending him for any role that he made an application
for.
After starting in a support role as a casual instructor in 2012, Tom soon
demonstrated the organisation and leadership skills that saw him elevated to
leadership positions and then to a full time position with significant responsibility.
For the final two and a half years of his three year tenure at Yachting Victoria Tom
managed a business unit called The Boatshed. The Boatshed is Australia’s most
prolific Tackers (junior introductory sailing program), Sailability and School Sailing
training centre. The Boatshed is prominently located on Albert Park Lake, which for
international sports fans is known as the home of the Australian F1 Grand Prix.
During this time Tom took the business unit to a new level, with further growth in
participation, vastly improved operations and first time ever surpluses.
Tom’s manner in dealing with staff, suppliers, customers and the general public is
first class. He is liked and respected by all that he comes into contact with.
We were obviously very sorry to lose him when he decided to return to Ireland for
family related reasons.
