in the NT. We are part of Tourism NT and as such, our concierge level of service is
independent and impartial, designed to connect you and your delegates to the many
surprising and ingenious perspectives of the NT. Through NTCB you will receive
unparalleled personal access to the destinations, venues and facilitators of meetings,

Using sticks and echidna quills or spikes they painted pictures, painstakingly
made up of thousands of dots, depicting hunting or food gathering with traditional
Aboriginal symbols embedded.
Today, talented artists continue to depict the stories of their land, environment and lives
in paintings and crafts. The dots represent a tribute to the ancient heritage and rich
Indigenous history of the entire Northern Territory region – deemed one of the oldest
living cultures in the world.
In traditional Western Desert art, this dot icon symbolises a camp site or meeting place.
The first people of the Northern Territory gathered and held meetings in locations
deemed spiritually significant. We are continuing this tradition of connecting through
stories, education and entertainment in places of wonder and cultural significance.

SHARED VALUES = KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE
Business events
act as a stimulator and facilitator of economic activity,
innovation and learning. Events in the NT consistently
demonstrate integrity and respect for the local
communities and Indigenous culture. They provide
mutually beneficial opportunities, contributing towards
sustaining these unique and diverse destinations and
embracing cultural diversity.
Corporate Social Responsibility
CSR is defined as a commitment to contribute to the
economic, environmental and social sustainability
of a community. The NTCB believe passionately in
the way CSR initiatives can enhance business events
and Uluru is a priority. We see firsthand the positive
mutual benefits that such activities can bring when
organisations choose to integrate a CSR component
into their conference, incentive or event hosted in the
NT. CSR engagement leaves a lasting legacy, with many
projects contributing to the economy, environmental and
sustainability of the community. This engagement also
provides participants with an unforgettable opportunity
to make strong connections with the local community;
its land, ancient culture and people.
NTCB is a leader in the CSR arena and
has set the benchmark to which many
other business event destinations
aspire. We ‘walk the CSR talk’ and
have identified organisations in the NT
for potential CSR engagement.

Culture
►► Considered the spiritual heart of Australia, Uluru is
culturally rich because of its Indigenous significance.
It is a place where those unfamiliar with Indigenous
culture can experience it firsthand and interact with
its people.
►► Anangu life revolves around the Tjukurpa
(Dreamtime). To the Aboriginal people, this is the
ancestral period when the world was being formed.
Tjukurpa is the basis of all Anangu knowledge
and connects everything in life. These legendary
narratives have been passed down through
thousands of years from generation to generation
through stories, rituals, ceremonies, songs, dances
and art.
►► At Uluru, Mala (Hare Wallaby), Kuniya (Woma
Python) and Liru (poisonous snake) are considered
to be very important ancestors to the region. Kuniya
Tjukurpa tells the story of the Woma Python, which
lived in the rocks at Uluru where she fought the Liri
(poisonous snake)

Indigenous
Culture and
HeritageThe Anangu people of Uluru have been the traditional
custodians of this region for many generations.
Their complex system of beliefs known as Tjukurpa
(pronounced ‘chu-ka-pa’) encompasses religion, law and
the relationship between people, plants, animals and the
landscape. Choose from a range of informative short
walks around Uluru and Kata Tjuta that bring to life the
ancient stories, Dreamtime imagination and sacred sites
of the Anangu people. Take the Kuniya Walk and discover
a rock shelter, used by the Mala people, containing
remarkable examples of Aboriginal rock art.
Local ArtVisit the award-winning Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural
Centre, the perfect starting point for your journey
into the Uluru landscape and world of incredible art.
Artefacts, artwork and videos tell the ancient stories,
offering an introduction into Anangu culture. Chat with
local artists at the Maruku and Walkatjara galleries
and gain an insight into the important role art plays in
Indigenous culture. Public demonstrations of traditional
techniques allow delegates to understand the symbols
and meanings behind this internationally renowned art
practice. Art galleries in various forms are scattered
across the Resort – from studios with artists in residence
to art markets.
Festivals
and EventsYulara and Ayers Rock Resort have a unique buzzing
atmosphere, derived from the inspiring backdrop of
Australia’s most inspiring natural icons. Uluru is blessed
with the perfect climate for hosting outdoor activities,
festivals and events. The laid back, ‘real outback’
atmosphere and the strong Indigenous component set the
tone and theme for many exciting art, dance, music, craft,
cultural and sporting events. The diverse line-up includes
Tjungu Festival, meaning ‘coming together’ in the Anangu
language; a lively celebration of Indigenous culture.
Ayers Rock Resort plays host to the Australian Outback
Marathon. Entrants from all over the world pound the red
dust, finding inspiration from the powerful energy and
spectacular views. Plus there’s Uluru Camel Cup and Uluru
Astrology Weekend, set in the perfect location under a
vast clear night sky.
EMBRACING
DIVERSITYUluru’s strong culture and its people’s dynamic and
positive spirit are some of the reasons why it is rated
so highly as a destination of choice. It is the epitome of
inspiration; a timeless place that embraces its roots and
shares its riches with all visitors.
The long-standing Indigenous history holds many cultural
benefits, which are best experienced by immersing in
the spectacular and iconic landscape, which come alive
through the paintings that line the walls of galleries,
studios and markets sharing a vivid narrative of
ancestral stories. In addition, to get a true taste of this
unique place, don’t miss the annual calendar of cultural
festivals and other Uluru events.
Uluru is reputed as Australia’s spiritual heart, and
the ultimate experience in natural wonders. It warmly
welcomes all people and celebrates their diversity,
without discrimination of gender, age or sexuality.

  • 6. Using sticks and echidna quills or spikes they painted pictures, painstakingly made up of thousands of dots, depicting hunting or food gathering with traditional Aboriginal symbols embedded. Today, talented artists continue to depict the stories of their land, environment and lives in paintings and crafts. The dots represent a tribute to the ancient heritage and rich Indigenous history of the entire Northern Territory region – deemed one of the oldest living cultures in the world. In traditional Western Desert art, this dot icon symbolises a camp site or meeting place. The first people of the Northern Territory gathered and held meetings in locations deemed spiritually significant. We are continuing this tradition of connecting through stories, education and entertainment in places of wonder and cultural significance. TELLING STORIES FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS Indigenous Australians have been telling their fascinating stories for thousands of years. Without a written language the dot paintings were a way of visualising their Dreamtime stories.

  • 16. ntconventions.com.au 16 SHARED VALUES = KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE Business events act as a stimulator and facilitator of economic activity, innovation and learning. Events in the NT consistently demonstrate integrity and respect for the local communities and Indigenous culture. They provide mutually beneficial opportunities, contributing towards sustaining these unique and diverse destinations and embracing cultural diversity. Corporate Social Responsibility CSR is defined as a commitment to contribute to the economic, environmental and social sustainability of a community. The NTCB believe passionately in the way CSR initiatives can enhance business events and Uluru is a priority. We see firsthand the positive mutual benefits that such activities can bring when organisations choose to integrate a CSR component into their conference, incentive or event hosted in the NT. CSR engagement leaves a lasting legacy, with many projects contributing to the economy, environmental and sustainability of the community. This engagement also provides participants with an unforgettable opportunity to make strong connections with the local community; its land, ancient culture and people. NTCB is a leader in the CSR arena and has set the benchmark to which many other business event destinations aspire. We ‘walk the CSR talk’ and have identified organisations in the NT for potential CSR engagement. ULURU Projects and initiatives undertaken are focused on improving the lives of local communities, and preserving and celebrating their ancient culture Integrity in business creates better outcomes BUSINESS CLIMATE

Their complex system of beliefs known as Tjukurpa (pronounced ‘chu-ka-pa’) encompasses religion, law and the relationship between people, plants, animals and the landscape. Choose from a range of informative short walks around Uluru and Kata Tjuta that bring to life the ancient stories, Dreamtime imagination and sacred sites of the Anangu people. Take the Kuniya Walk and discover a rock shelter, used by the Mala people, containing remarkable examples of Aboriginal rock art.
