To whom it may concern.
I’m writing this email to recommend Tim Mello for the Regional Sales Manager position. Tim and I worked as
peers for Brian Burgan until December of 2014 when we were tasked with the challenge of starting with a new
team. For most people throwing them out of their comfort zone would be a tough hurdle to overcome; it
certainly was for
me. However, Tim was able to embrace the change and transition into his new environment with his
characteristically positive attitude and ambition to not only meet but exceed all expectations put before him.
Throughout the many changes within SolarCity over the last year, Tim has continued to flourish through his
relentless commitment to his craft by embracing any and all changes with readiness of mind and strategic
perspectives to ensure his success. Tim is always excited, positive, and eager to help those around him to be
successful. For example, Tim specifically asked for a chance to work next to an associate that wasn’t
performing where Tim felt he could. This associate lingered in and out of the bottom 20% for months until Tim
took on this associate as a personal challenge to motivate and help refine his pitch to articulate the message of
SolarCity and the movement. He helped him become a double digit sales person that was no longer in the
bottom 20% but threatening to overtake a position within Team Elite.
From the first day I met Tim he was very clear about his goals and aspirations within SolarCity to ascend to the
Regional Sales Manager position and beyond. Tim asked several members of the management staff what
expectations he needed to meet in order to obtain his goal. Once Tim identified these specific areas, he not
only met these goals but exceeded all of them while encouraging and inspiring those around him to achieve
the same success level.
Tim is the first in the building, the last to leave, and works nearly every weekend. He is articulate, intelligent,
positive, and excited to be a part of the growing success here at SolarCity. Most importantly, Tim has more
heart than anyone I’ve met in my life. I’ve worked in sales for 14 years with 12 years in sales management,
and I have never worked with someone that is so driven to be the best version of himself both personally and
professionally. Tim is a good friend and a great employee, and I think he would be a tremendous asset to
SolarCity in the Regional Sales Manager position. I think Tim deserves the position not because he is entitled,
but because he has earned a shot to show what he can do on a larger scale. I would be happy to work for Tim
Mello and wish him the best in his very bright future within SolarCity.
Best Regards,
Josh McCarty | Inside Energy Specialist |
To Whom It May Concern,
I am pleased to give my support and recommendation as a peer for Tim Mello for the Regional Sales
Manager position; he has exemplified the qualities of a great leader.
I believe there are two main qualities that would make Tim an outstanding Regional Sales Manager.
First, Tim genuinely cares about the people around him and is constantly working on developing his
peers around him. He is selfless with his time and is never too busy to teach a process to a fellow
employee or provide coaching or feedback that can help someone around him be more successful.
Second is that he provides sound fundamentals around the business in delivering results, providing
excellent customer service, and having a system in place to manage the backend side of the project.
Tim would make a great addition to the leadership team and should you have any questions or want
further explanation I would be more than happy to discuss in further detail.
Sincerely,
Lance Dengate.
To whom it may concerns
My name is Tabrez Ansari and I am a senior consultant with Solarcity. Please accept this as my personal letter of
recommendation for Tim Mello. Tim and I have been working on the same team since Dec 2014. From day one,
he has willingly shared best practices with me that have directly contributed to my ability to pull back end thru.
Tim has the ability to explain his view by being clear and concise, that has helped my understand how to position
our product with more confidence. Tim is very well rounded as a sales person. He is by far the best team lead
solar8 has had, check out numbers after Tim. With that said, I truly believe Tim would have a great impact as
leader with Solarcity.
Tabrez Ansari
Tim,
I stand behind you fully. I haven’t worked directly with you, but you have helped me in many other ways, just
through conversation. I can remember a number of times when I have seen you while I was walking off
frustration after dealing with a difficult customer. After only a few moments of speaking with you, we would
determine how it could have gone differently and possibly a different approach to the next time I came across that
challenge. I cannot begin to describe how this has helped me when dealing with customer objections or just hard
nose customers.
Thank you,
Bryan Phares | Inside Energy Specialist |
I AM HONORED TIM THAT YOU WOULD EVEN WANT ME TO ENDORSE YOU

as my recommendation for your candidacy

Tim,
I believe you would make for a great leader in this organization. Your follow through with commitments
that I’ve heard and seen is great. Genuinely willing to help and you have a great process for getting deals
through the pipe and to install. I’ll be the first to congratulate you when your opportunity comes!
Randy Gibson | RSM
I would like to fully endorse Tim Mello for RSM. I’ve seen him take time out to educate and train
individuals to help them b e c o m e successful. He has assisted me on at least 3 deals in which I sent
them over less than perfect and he made them work and be able to close. He is always available to share
knowledge and present it in a way not to make anyone feel stupid or anything. In the few months that
I’ve started to work closer with him, I’ve come to respect his work ethic, decision making and desire and
drive to succeed are evident and paramount.
Seth Weithers | Legacy Energy Advisor Team Lead |
Tim,
I have a ton of respect for you in terms of your work ethic, your passion for SolarCity, and the effort you
put in to help others improve their performance. I really appreciate your willingness to step up and help
with the MyPower training sessions. Qualifying for Team Elite shows that you practice what you
preach…you close deals and pull deals through to install. We’re all here to make a difference in the
world and increase our income by getting solar on customer’s roofs. In my opinion, your success is a
direct result of your unwavering positive attitude.
Now it’s time to reach your next career goal with SolarCity, becoming an RSM. If I can help in any way,
please let me know. I fully endorse you.
