OBJECTIVE
Mechanical Engineering position
EDUCATION:
Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Worcester, MA
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, GPA: 3.09/4.00 May 2016
RELEVANT COURSES IN MAJOR:
Nanomaterial & Nanotechnology, Ceramics, Plastics, Materials & Processing, Food Engineering, Fluid
Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Kinematics.
EXPERIENCE:
Intern/Volunteer at FMC Technologies, Rio de Janeiro, RJ (Brazil) May 2012 – Aug 2012
Rotated stations weekly in an Engineering Facility for Subsea operation hardware, software, machinery, and
robotics.
Carried out stress testing and the application of mesh layers to undersea equipment/components through
ANSYS.
Areas of interest and study were: Welding crew; machining and milling operations; installation simulation;
production engineering; stress analysis/testing; pressure and heat lab. Witnessed firsthand manifold and
christmas tree completion and assembly.
PROJECTS:
Major Qualifying Project (MQP), WPI (A+ grade received) August 2015– May 2016
Collaborated with a Civil engineering major to further previous tensile testing of current on the market fire
hoses.
Tested the thermal and mechanical properties of various fire hoses in higher temperatures ranging from 50°C
to 300°C using an insulated ceramic cup lined with heating coils.
Simulated and compared the tensile testing with heat of current hoses and alternative materials, in order to
suggest a hose design with new materials that still meets the current criteria.
Thermofluid Design and Analysis: Geothermal Cooling System, WPI Oct 2014 – Dec 2014
Designed a cooling system for a 4,000 square foot house in mid-summer Massachusetts using a series of heat-
exchangers and expansion valves, ideas were drawn up in SOLIDWORKS.
Calculated the required specs and found the correct material of the tubes in the shell and tube heat exchanger
and those underground in order to successfully decrease the temperature from ~100 degrees Fahrenheit to 75
degrees.
Modeled and maximized the initial and 15 years running costs for the cooling system in Matlab.
Trader/Analyst for Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP), WPI (A+ grade received) Aug 2013- May 2014
Formulated strategies for trading stocks and Forex using Tradestation.
Developed a system for executing trades when the designated parameters were met. The study was conducted
over a 28 week period with the goal of adapting our system in order to increase survivability in the market.
Applied market knowledge with skills in statistics and programing algorithms – successfully generated
simulated alpha (profit).
One of the three portfolios managed to realize a 21.89% virtual increase over 44 day period.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Programming Experience: Matlab, Python, Easylanguage, Microsoft Excel + Word, Photoshop
Project Design: SOLIDWORKS, Labview, Espirit, ANSYS, AutoCAD
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Portuguese: Native, Fluent Spanish: Fluent (A+ grade received)
