The Sanmar Group has supported education for decades by setting up and running reputable schools in Chennai and Mettur, as well as providing support to schools in Port Said, Egypt, Cuddalore, and Karaikal. To prevent dropouts, Sanmar runs evening tuition centers for rural students around Mettur and Karaikal. Seeing success in Mettur, they started remedial classes for students in villages around Karaikal. Sanmar also extends support to rural schools in Cuddalore. Veeranur and Kozhipannai, situated

 Spurred by its success at Mettur,
the Group started remedial classes
(after school coaching classes) to
schoolchildren living in villages
around Karaikal.

4. Support for rural schools at Cuddalore
Sanmar has extended support to
rural schools at Chitrapet and
Semmankuppam villages located
around Cuddalore, enabling them to
offer better quality education.

5. The Sankara Group of Schools
The Sankara Schools (Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School, Adyar and Sri
Sankara Vidyashramam Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Thiruvanmiyur)
in Chennai have made a name for themselves as well-known institutions of
academic excellence.

6. Accord between Sanmar and Governor to start a school
at Port Said in Egypt
 A cooperation protocol for the
construction of a school for basic
education (primary and preparatory)
inside the housing project at the EI
Quaboty area was signed by the
Governor of Port Said and TCI
Sanmar Chemicals.
 The project is estimated to cost EGP
5 million, with a capacity of 30
classrooms, a library, playground
and facilities for entertainment
activities.

7. IT education services for rural schools at Karaikal
Sanmar helped establish a
computer-training academy at
Vaduku Vanjore village near
Karaikal by providing
computers to the rural schools.

runs Vaidheeswara Group of

9. Promoting social entrepreneurship among women
As part of its social women
entrepreneurship programme,

centres at Kozhi Pannai and

empower rural girls and
women with vocational
training, making them skilled
and self-supporting.

The Madhuram Narayanan Centre
for Exceptional Children founded by
The Sanmar Group in 1989 provides
early intervention and specialised
training for children with various
types of developmental delays and
associated conditions.

11. Madhuram Narayanan Centre for Exceptional Children
 The Madhuram Narayanan Centre’s ‘moving ahead’ programme enables
these special children to continue school education in special and mainstream
schools after completing the early intervention programme.
 The Centre has been serving the cause of exceptional children for over two
decades and along its journey has also guided, counselled and trained parents
in the betterment of over 3500 children.
