IEC –
Importer-Exporter Code
An Importer -Exporter Code (IEC) is a key business identification number which mandatory for export from
India or Import to India. No export or import shall be made by any person without obtaining an IEC unless
specifically exempted.
IEC (Import Export Code) is required by anyone who is looking to kick-start his/her import/export business in the
country. It is issued by the DGFT (Director General of Foreign Trade). IEC is a 10-digit code which has a lifetime
validity. Predominantly importers merchant cannot import goods without the Import Export Code and similarly, the
exporter merchant cannot avail benefits from DGFT for the export scheme, etc. without IEC.

RCMC-
Registration cum
Membership Certificate
Registration-Cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) is a certificate that validates an exporter dealing with products
registered with an agency/ organization that are authorised by the Indian Government. The certificate is issued for five
years by the Export Promotional Councils or commodity board in India.

Letter of Permit
A Letter of Permission (LOP) is a type of individual permit issued through an abbreviated processing procedure that
includes coordination with federal and state fish and wildlife agencies, and a public interest evaluation, but without the
publishing of an individual public notice.
