2. Our Mission
Nexleaf Analytics is a non-profit
technology company based in Los
Angeles, California. Our mission is to
build, scale, and support devices and
analytics tools that improve public
health and the environment. We strive
to develop affordable technology that
meets the specific needs of the
dedicated professionals working to
tackle difficult challenges in these fields.
Our primary projects are:
ColdTrace
(Global Vaccine Delivery)
StoveTrace
(Improved Cookstoves
& Modern Energy Access)
3. StoveTrace: The Problem
Every day, nearly 3 billion people build fires inside their
homes to cook and to provide heat and light.
These fires burn inefficiently, and they emit
high quantities of pollutants. The smoke
produced by these fires pollutes homes
and escapes into the atmosphere,
contributing to a wide variety of respiratory
illnesses as well as global warming.
For decades, stakeholders in public health
and climate change have been trying to
develop, manufacture and distribute
improved cookstoves that address these
problems.
But how are these cookstoves actually
being used in rural households?
4. StoveTrace: The Technology
StoveTrace is a remote temperature monitoring (RTM) system designed to
track cookstove usage in remote locations.
StoveTrace is designed for secure and robust performance in rural
homes. It provides reliable continuous data from remote areas and limited
infrastructure environments.
StoveTrace attaches to
improved cookstoves or
traditional mud stoves to log
and transmit real-time stove use
data.
The StoveTrace web dashboard
provides analytics tools for
creating reports and data
visualizations stove use data
collected.
StoveTrace received generous support from the Beneventures Foundation, Qualcomm
Wireless Reach, and Mulago.
5. Cookstoves & Carbon Markets
StoveTrace enables rural women to earn payments for reductions in CO2
through our C2P2 project. Additionally, the Gold Standard Foundation just
announced a similar methodology for valuing Black carbon using
StoveTrace, as depicted here:
