across all income levels are more
prevalent.

I.T.- better access to information, and a
wider acceptance (less taboo), has led to a
shift with more women/couples seeking
treatment.
Employment changes- stagnant wages
means less income overall. Low credit
scores and high debt to income ratios (post
depression), prevent many from qualifying for
large loans.
Today’s Fertility Market
According to the CDC (for the U.S.):
• Of married women- 1.5 million (6%) are infertile
• Most infertility cases -- 85% to 90% -- are treated
with medications or surgery.
• In vitro fertilization (and similar) account for less
than 3% of infertility services.

Bureau - of wage earners through
April 2014:
• The average median family income
with 1 earner was ~$46,819*
– After base taxes ~$34,300
• The median family income with 2
earners was only $60,276*

A. ~15-25% reduction in payment on 1st
failed cycle. Up to 65% reduction on 2nd
and/or 3rd failed cycles (for same

all the revenue by collecting payments
directly from patient or lending agency2.

The World of Infertility Cont. Both-New and improved Information Technology (I.T.). An employment market shift to expanding benefit packages in lieu of increasing wages*. *According to a 2013 study, performed by Kaiser: employer contributions to employee healthcare costs went up 78% from 2003 to 2013.
  • 4. Significant Change… Clinical advancements– pre-screening (PGS/PGD), vitrification, higher quality embryos, higher pregnancy rates, better outcomes, lower multiple rates. Changing Demographics- today, it’s not just patients who require IVF and have 6 figure incomes seeking treatment. Instead, those with multiple treatment options, across all income levels are more prevalent.
  • 5. Significant Change… I.T.- better access to information, and a wider acceptance (less taboo), has led to a shift with more women/couples seeking treatment. Employment changes- stagnant wages means less income overall. Low credit scores and high debt to income ratios (post depression), prevent many from qualifying for large loans.

Programs require them to absorb deep discounts from the start-in the development of the treatment packages they offer. A. Requires a ~20-30% (or more) discount off clinic’s normal treatment fees.
  • 18. OVERPRICED Programs 2. Most charge clinics a penalty fee for unsuccessful cycles: A. ~15-25% reduction in payment on 1st failed cycle.
