COUNTY GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS OFFICE AND WCPS LAUNCH
INTERACTIVE SCHOOL DISTRICT MAP
Find your child’s school district with a few key strokes
Hagerstown, Md. (February 24, 2015) – Washington County Government and Washington County Public
Schools are pleased to announce the launch of the Washington County School District Interactive Map. A
tool for parents and guardians, those interested in learning more about district and school information for
specific residential addresses can do so 24/7 via tablet, computer and smartphone.
“With the launch of this tool, determining which
school your child might attend becomes as simple
as entering your address,” said Bud Gudmundson,
Washington County Geographic Information
System manager. “Through this partnership with
WCPS, both current residents and prospective
community members can have up-to-date
information as soon as they need it.”
Users can access the map by visiting the WCPS and the Washington County Government/GIS Office
websites: http://washcogis2.washco-md.net/js/SchoolLocator/
After entering an address or using the “find my location” button, users can determine the elementary,
middle and high school district for any address entered. Each of the schools in the district is listed at the
bottom of the screen. Clicking on one of them will display the school location and district boundaries. A
link to the school webpage is also given and the map can be browsed without entering any address, for
more general information.
For additional information, contact Public Relations and Community Affairs Manager James Jenkins at
240-313-2384.
