Set design project (Drama)
<Riders to the Sea >
For my concept, my set designs which to show this family with loneliness and helplessness in this isolated place. That's mean it
present a place of trapped just like a jail or fish tank, to lock all of the people that you can not leave and try to leave even
you died. For the actor in this place of trapped, they are locked and cannot escape. They live in a broken, dirty, little old
cottage, which lost their dream and hope gradually. They only have despair until the story ends. The audience itself seems to
be secretly watching this family's life, yet remain passive and is only there to observe the unfolding of a tragedy.
The idea of my design is from an Irish farmhouse (cottage) reference, which cut off a section to show the interior of it. It make
me further develop my concept to combine reference, then design the set which is cut a one point perspective shape to
create a peep area for audiences. The set cut off a section to show the outward of cottage and interior, so that it can
create more layers to show the inside and outside physical and emotional change coordinate with lighting.
The black borders and legs in the set are mainly used to highlight the center of the stage, guiding the audience eyes to only
focus on the happenings in the small cottage kitchen. I want the lighting and sound effects to be the only things that inspire
the audience themselves into imagining what kind of a setting or environment this little Irish cottage is in.

Set Associate Designer for
<The Wilderness>
I think the character Chou Hu is like a tornado. He comes very suddenly. From
his coming to killing Daxing, and dying in the end of story. These things happen
in a very short period, just like the weather turning into a tornado until it
dissipates. This process is very short and sudden.
Moreover, Chou Hu destroyed everything in the story. So his action made the
forest from tidy became messy in the end.

Costume Designer for
<Macbeth>
I express the main characters are cruel, and the ruthless of war, the
main color tone are blue, black and grey. And this color combination
made the last bloody scene more conspicuous and standout. And I
design the costumes of this story are designed based on the style of the
European army uniform from 19 century to 20th century. Besides, I
defined the witches are from another dimension space, using science
fiction style as the main key design element for their costume design.
