Social media websites allow users to interact and share information publicly and privately. Some employers monitor employees' social media use and have dismissed workers based on social media posts. The document outlines guidelines for employees of Xoserve regarding appropriate social media use to ensure confidentiality and protect the company's reputation. Employees are instructed not to identify customers, disclose sensitive company information, damage working relationships, or post photos without consent. Violating these policies could result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.
1. Title : Social Media Websites
You may have recently seen in the media stories relating to the use of social media sites and
their impact on some employers which in some instances have led to employees being
dismissed.
Social media is internet technology that enables online users to interact and share information
(including video, audio, photographs and text) publically and privately with each other. Social
media includes a variety of internet based communication tools such as such as Facebook,
Twitter, blogs, youtube and wikis (eg wikkipedia).
Xoserve does not currently allow access to some social media websites from their computers.
Whilst of course we absolutely respect our employees’ right to a private life outside of work, we
must also ensure that confidentiality and the reputation of Pertemps and Xoserve are protected,
and that our employees (and third parties) are protected from any detriment which may result
from any material published on such sites.
In the event that you use social media sites (either at work or outside of work), you are required to
adhere to the following at all times:
• Do not identify any customers and/or any other third parties that you may interact with as part of
your job role within Xoserve;
• Do not identify any confidential or commercially sensitive information about Pertemps, Xoserve
and/or their customers;
• Ensure that you do not conduct yourself in a way that could be detrimental to Pertemps or
Xoserve in any way including making any comments which may bring the company's into
disrepute;
• Take care to ensure that your interaction on these websites is in line with Xoserve values (e.g.
respect) and Pertemps Policies, and could not in way potentially damage working relationships
with any of your colleagues. In particular, you should not make any comments about colleagues
(including Agency Staff, Contractors Wipro or TCS staff) which may either directly or indirectly
identify that individual, and which could be considered (by anyone) as offensive and/or has the
potential to cause distress or anxiety (to anyone). Additionally, you should ensure that you do not
reveal any information about any colleague which they may reasonably have not wanted to be
disclosed;
• Do not upload any photos or video taken at work or a work event (including work related
training/conference and social events), unless you have the express consent of everyone in the
video/photo; and
• Conduct yourself appropriately and professionally at all times.
2. Pertemps would take very seriously any activities taking place on social media sites, both inside
and outside of work that may breach any of the above or any of our Policies. Such sanctions may
include being subject to Pertemps's Disciplinary Procedure which could potentially include
dismissal.
Furthermore, inappropriate and/or offensive comments (inside or outside work) could also be
considered under Pertemps's Discrimination, Harassment and Bullying Policy, which again could
lead to disciplinary action, a potential sanction of which includes dismissal.
Should you have any questions regarding the above please do not hesitate to contact any
member of the Pertemps team.
