» Fall and Winter sessions are held for six weeks each.
» Programming consists of a 50-minute on-ice session
and a 30-minute off-ice session.
» Group instruction format. Skaters grouped with those
of similar skill levels for on-ice instruction:
» Swizzles on Ice: Snowplow Sam 3 – Basic 3
» Edges on Ice: Basic 4 – 8
» Twizzles on Ice: Freestyle and above
» Skill level pre-requisite: Must have passed Snowplow
Sam 3
or Basic 1 badges.
» On-ice sessions held on the Main Ice. Off-ice in the Ice
Arena.
» On-ice:
» 30 minutes of skill instruction focusing on specific
skating elements and overall skill progression rotating
between instructors.
» 20 minutes of artistic instruction and creation
covering Artistry in Motion and Theatre on Ice elements
as well as program development.
» Off-ice:
» Stretching
» Fitness
» Ballet and dance
» Skating technique
» Presentation and artistic expression
» Performance opportunities such as exhibitions and
competitions available through participation in the
Bridge program.
