representation of sellers and buyers of existing full service restaurants, bars, and all other food service businesses, tenants and
landlords in the leasing of restaurant, bars and other food service commercial real estate locations, and expert witness testimony
assisting attorneys for restaurant, bars and all other food service business disputes, (i.e.). Landlord/Tenant claims and disputes,
partnership claims and disputes, and opinion of valuation of restaurant, bars, and all other food service business assets and

In 2003, Steve founded Capital Restaurant Group, (CRG), a full service restaurant brokerage division on behalf of Capital
Commercial Real Estate Group, LLC, based in Stamford, CT. Under his direction as senior managing director, and senior broker,
CRG quickly became noted as one of the most successful and recognized restaurant brokerage practices in CT.
In 2011, after 8 years of representing a multitude of restaurant sales and leases for CRG, Steve departed to join long established
Stamford, CT based Pyramid Real Estate Group, a full service commercial real estate brokerage, and property management firm,
where he formed a new restaurant brokerage division for the firm known as Pyramid Restaurant Group, and where he now serves
as Senior Managing Director/Broker of restaurant sales and leases.
Background: Steve was born and raised in Stamford, CT, where his parents had owned many successful restaurants, at which
he, at an early age, would help out after school and on weekends.
1973: Class of 73, West Hill High School, Stamford, CT.
1973-1979: Professional rock musician with bands CAMEL & ADONIS, touring throughout the North East, and into Canada.
1980-1984: Retired from the stage, married, and went back to work in the family’s restaurant business ventures.
1984: Became a licensed real estate agent representing local real estate companies, where he had dealt in commercial real estate
sales and leases.
1986: Became a licensed real estate broker in the State of CT, and formed S.A. MATSIS, RESTAURANT ASSOCIATES.
1989: Interviewed for a position as a Stock Broker with Stuart/James Investment Bankers, the Darien, CT branch of a national
40 branch small-cap underwriting stock brokerage firm representing new and emerging companies. Upon approval for the
position, Steve was enrolled in Securities Training Corporation, NY, NY, where he studied for and passed the Series 7 and Series
63 licensing exams, and became an SEC Registered Rep.
Present: Exclusively representing the sales and leases of restaurant and bar transactions throughout CT., as Senior Managing
Director of Stamford, CT based Pyramid Restaurant Group.
Personal: Lives in Newtown, CT with his wife, Debbie, where together they’ve raised 3 children.
