EXPERIENCE/ RESEARCH
• James Cancer Hospital Department of Radiation Oncology Columbus, OH (Summer 2014) AAPM
Physics Research Fellow. Adviser: Dr. Lanchun Lu (Lanchun.Lu@osumc.edu)
Examined the efficacy of different radiation treatments on two different mouse cell lines, one expressing the
AID gene and one with the AID gene silenced. Compared linear accelerator-based external beam radiation
therapy, therapy with different dose rates, and brachytherapy with radioactive sources. Learned how to
culture/grow cell lines and count the number of surviving cells as a function of time (with a counting slide).
As the secondary author, a paper will be published in the Journal of Radiation Oncology this fall on the data
that we gathered for this investigation.
• Honors Thesis Research: 60Co γ-ray imaging of geodes and human forearm models
(Fall 2014-Spring 2015) Adviser: Dr. Voytas (pvoytas@wittenberg.edu)
• Wittenberg University Plasma Lab (WUPL) Research Assistant (Summer 2013-Spring 2014)
Adviser: Dr. Jeremiah Williams (jwilliams@wittenberg.edu)
Analyzed the propagation of acoustic waves in dusty plasma. Gained valuable experience building circuits,
collecting high-speed camera data, and analyzing this data to produce illustrative plots and schematics.
Presented research at the annual meeting of the Division of Plasma Physics (DPP) in Denver, CO, in Fall
2013 as new undergraduate member of the American Physical Society (APS). Presented additional
research at the 2014 Wittenberg Celebration of Learning conference.
