Durasolution was applied to control dust at the Burnstone Mine in South Africa, covering an area of 4,200 square meters including areas near the vehicle workshop, diesel bay, brake test ramp, mine entrance and underground decline. Durasolution was chosen for its ability to continuously suppress dust even when the soil is disturbed. The treatment effectively bound dust particles and kept surfaces wet without needing watering. As a result, the treated areas were free of dust and required minimal maintenance.

Area: The Burnstone Mine is one of the largest
gold mines in South Africa. The mine is located
near Balfour. The mine has estimated reserves of
29.1 million oz. of gold.
Background: The main traffic areas within the
mine had become overcome by fugitive and
windborne dust making dust suppression a
requirement. Soil & Dust Solutions, Soil Solutions

Durasolution was applied over a total area of
4,200 square meters which included the areas
leading up to and surrounding the vehicle
workshop, the diesel bay, the brake test ramp,
the entrance to the decline and underground
within the decline.
Durasolution was chosen for this project as the
main objective was for dust prevention and it is the
recommended solution for declines and under
ground use due to its ability to continuously perform
even when the soil is re-worked acting as a
compaction aid, eliminating the need for watering
the road surfaces and providing safer working and
driving conditions by agglomerating the dust
particles together and holding them to the surface.
Our approach provides a cost effective long-term

maintenance and reduced damage to vehicles.

Project Description: The application of Durasolution, which acts a permanent wetting
agent, supplied the necessary dust suppression by effectively agglomerating the dust
particles together and keeping the surface continuously wet. The application was done by
hand and without interruption to any traffic. Our innovative and specifically tailored solution
will increase efficiency, provide improved visibility and greatly reduce maintenance.
Result: As a result the areas leading up to and surrounding the vehicle workshop, the
diesel bay, the brake test ramp, the entrance to the decline and underground within the
decline are dust free and do not require any watering for dust abatement. The ability of
