The general tacit perception of the children Church is that it is a place to park children
while their parents attend to serious spiritual matters in the adult Church (except for a
few Churches this has been an agelong notion). This attitude is expressed in how the
leadership prioritizes these 3 KPIs – quality of teaching materials and learning facilities;
regular training of teachers; and the budget allocated to the children ministry.
However, contrary to the notion many have about teenagers especially, youths today
are looking for a place where they can find inspiration, where they are motivated to
learn by engaging in an exciting activity: this is the Church that will be relevant to
millennials and the Gen-Zs, a generation that brand themselves as digital nomads.
A major global disruption has occurred, the post-COVID-19 new world will be so
virtually dependent that the significance of the Church in the emerging society will
depend on how effectively it uses the digital media to advance the gospel. From this
point on, the relevance of the Church in the future lies in the effective digitization of
the two core components of the Great Commission – discipleship and teaching.
The virtual Church is now a cliché among tech-savvy pastors, but this implies more
than just streaming preaching sessions, sermons and Church programs online.
Ecclesia League is a pioneer sport-based Bible education dedicated to using digital and

We are persuaded by the stakes for the Kingdom – “The Future, the children has always

that professes Christ, but excludes the Holy Bible in its worship experience)!

Harmonics of Bible Education: Arts-based Bible Learning Model.
Harmonics of Bible Education exploits the imagery of creative art to help students
connect with and discover biblical truth: the Bible is used as the primary resource of
this learning process that is based on projects that develop their aptitude in the Arts.
Having modeled the student-teacher interaction during the Precepts Game
Championship preparations for MTH 2013, Ecclesia League is essentially a mentoring
program. This novel Bible education system offers a robust training and certification
course to equip children’s teachers in the conventional and Church Sunday school with
knowledge and skills to disciple and teach youths using the digital media.
Registration Fee for Ecclesia League is N40,000. The fee admits a delegate (leader) per
institution for InDesign Leadership Development Training (the course content and
responsibility of InDesign Leaders is intensive; hence we advise applicants to take time to
read through the Manifesto before proceeding to register).

Stanley Ohanugo has served as parish pastor in The Redeemed Christian Church of God
on 3 occasions (North V, Abuja 1999; Enugu Province 2004 and Lagos Province 36 2014).
He is dedicated to an unconventional ministry using entertainment and digital media to
reach the visually-oriented generation. He is an author, screenwriting coach and game &
app developer. Stanley is an Inductive Bible Study instructor. He authored the novel
Disciples of the Inverted Cross (a compelling story that relives Jesus in contemporary
times) and invented the Scrabble-styled Bible game Precepts Crossword Puzzle.

operations of successful global sport brands, the template for the administration of the
Football Federation is used to develop the Tournament plan. Consequently, in pursuit
of the goal of establishing an enduring and self-sustaining sport organization that will
grow from an indigenous Sport Association to a global Federation (the Confederation of
Precepts Associations), the Bible Education system is built on the tripartite structures:

The culture of reading has continued to decline with successive generations. In the
case of Scriptures, language barrier and the issue of relevance of Bible morals are
liable for the generation gap that makes reading the Holy Bible unappealing to youths.
The concept of “Learning through Play” (the use of games as a medium of teaching)
was advocated by Shahneila Saeed and Sugata Mitra as a remedy for a syndrome that
commonly affects children’s inability to learn – Attention Deficiency Hyperactivity
Disorder (ADHD). However, long before the advocacy for game-based learning, the
Israelis have been using games to teach and make their children enjoy memorizing the
Torah, the Israeli Educational Institute now has about 613 Torah games.
Encouraged by the successful engagement of similar board games - Scrabble and
Chess, the Precepts Championship was piloted in 2013, to evaluate its receptibility by
players and institutions and the possibility of evolving an organized sport like the
Scrabble Championship: that novel Teens Bible Knowledge Championship, Maestros
Treasure Hunt (MTH 2013) involving 16 Churches in Lagos State was well-received.
Precepts Game in itself does not teach the Bible: however, the need to develop a
game-based system of Bible Education became imperative taking cognizance of the
facts that:
1. most institutions (schools and Churches) seldom (most don’t see the need to) train
teen/children teachers and equip them with up-to-date knowledge and skills, and
2.current teaching methods are so outmoded to cater to the underlying factors
responsible for adolescents’ apathy to reading,

9. Similar to the rule of the Scrabble, Precepts
Game requires players to spell words found in
the Bible on the spelling board designed to give
the advantage to the more Bible literate player.
Built on the premise that the challenge of
forming words in the Bible using 8 tiles drawn at
random brings to the player’s memory Scripture
passages that the player had previously read,
Players’ Bible Quotient (intelligence) is evaluated
by 2 scoring scales – points earned from spelling
words (augmented by bonus squares that
multiplies a letter or sum of letter values) and
Precepts Talent (a round token) awarded for the
correct citation of the Bible reference for the
name of a person or deity mentioned in the Bible
spelt on the premium square THUMMIM. An
opponent can win the Talent for a name if the
original player’s citation is incorrect.
A game is won by player who has earned more
Precepts Talents.

It is generally accepted that the ultimate purpose of
studying the Holy Bible is at the minimum for spiritual
growth (not to know). But, how can spiritual growth be
measured? If possible, it is certainly not by the amount of
information one has about the Bible?
Precepts Crossword Puzzle is a medium for evaluating
player’s Bible intelligence (Quotient). But given the factor
of rote learning involved in knowing words in the Bible,
the game’s reward system is not even an accurate
estimation of player’s knowledge of Scripture. This novel
game-based Bible education is designed to optimize this
initial interest to guide participants in the Academy
through a seven-step life transformation process, which
can be tracked or evaluated by the instructor.
The process is based on the proven experience of a willing
heart that is constantly exposed to the living word of God.
Instructors will be trained to guide students in the
Academy through this progressive change.
In his classic Youth ministry handbook, Timeless Youth
Ministry, Dr. Lee Vukich stated unequivocally that the
assignment of a children or youth teacher is to guide
adolescents to fulfill their God-given potential.
The InDesign Leadership Development Process is intended
to equip the youth and children leader to fulfill this divine
mandate. The leadership development process is so named
to emphasize and make certified leaders conscious and
intentional about their relationship and responsibility over
the youths that God has committed to their care: this
evident progress is the basis for evaluating the leader’s
effectiveness.
Precepts Academy mentoring program design is built on 7

Training and certification program especially devised for
both fulltime and part-time youth ministry.
A session of the Training program is broken into 3

ECCLESiA LEAGUE
Ecclesia League format models the national Football league
division layout, here denoted as Classes (3 Class-divisions)
– Excel, Aspire and Access Class: each division has 16
Teams: each Team is composed of 4 Precepts Players that
complete 4 matches each to contribute to the Team’s
success in the league season.
An annual league season is completed in 5 months (June –
October) and each team completes a total of 16 matches
(8 Home and 8 Away matches).
Precepts Championship is designed to make all 4 team
members’ Bible Quotient contribute to the Team’s success,
rather than depending on the skill of one champion.
ECCLESiA LEAGUE FORMAT
Teams are recognized as Bible Clubs in Ecclesia League.
Certified coaches can set up Precepts Academy and build a
team from the Church, School or even an orphanage. The
priority for qualification to play in the league is that the
Coach or Manager of the Team is a certified InDesign
Leader.
The Country’s Ecclesia League is a long drawn-out and
impacting Precepts Game championship: consisting of
three levels – the first level is the Commonwealth of
Fellowships Competition (or CFC), the preliminary or
qualification competition for the League. Only Precepts
Academies managed by InDesign Leaders (from Level 1)
are eligible to take part in the CFC.
As the Game grows and expands to other countries, the
3rd level – an inter-nations competition branded The
League of the Triumphants will be introduced. Similar to
the UEFA qualification model, the best 5 (five) Bible Clubs
in the Excel Classes of National Ecclesia Leagues will be
drawn to compete against each other at The LOTT.
*Because of the Covid-19 situation, most of the games,
except those requiring very few contestants will be
deployed virtually on the Precepts App.
Ecclesia League galvanizes the functions of the
structures of the sport system: certified InDesign
Leaders engage participating youths in the
Precepts Academy to exhibit their talents and
Bible intelligence in an Ecclesia League match.

The spell-binding suspense and thrill of the Football
League Leaderboard is also incorporated into the Ecclesia
League Table.
Teams are evaluated based on the Precepts Game reward
system – the Bible Quotient: Cumulative number of
Talents players garner from matches and average Points
won. The position of Teams on the Leaderboard (the
League Table) is dependent on Team’s cumulative Talents
(although the League Table will also show win/lose state).
Teams with equal number of Talents are ranked according
to the average Points won form matches.
Ascension & Descent on LeagueTable
Similar to the Soccer League Team division-rating, some
teams in Ecclesia League are displaced at the end of a
league season: 3 Teams at the bottom of the Excel Class
(Premier League division) are relegated to the Aspire
Class, and the 3 Teams at the top of the Aspire class are
promoted to the Excel Class. 3 Teams at the bottom of the
Aspire Class League Table are relegated to the Access
Class (3rd division league), and the 3 Teams at the top of
the Access class are promoted to the Aspire Class. Because
of the objective of the sport, 5 Teams at the bottom of the
Access Class are evicted from the League: 5 new Teams
from the CFC are inducted into the League. This format
sustains Bible study exercise in the Academies.
Matches in Ecclesia League are not just a contest between
Precepts players: Ecclesia League match event is executed
as a special program for the “Host” Academy: each
Precepts Academy has the opportunity to host this
thrilling and engaging event (Ecclesia League match) eight
(8) times in a year, if they are participating in any of the
Classes (divisions) of Ecclesia League.
Precepts matches in the League will hold on Saturdays,
the program will run from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Like any sport
event, the Academy publicizes the event in its community,
inviting family, friends and the public as spectators.

20. A complete and detailed description of the administration
of Ecclesia League match is contained in The Game
Management Manual for Precepts Game (this a standard
convention of most world-class global sports). However,
some basic cost-related requirements will be described
here for the sake of caption on the budget.
Presentation of Ecclesia League Match
Precepts Game exudes excitement and also suspense and
emotions characteristic of popular sports like football,
tennis and other outdoor games. Although Precepts is a
board game, the excitement is not lost on spectators.
The effectiveness of the presentation of Precepts match
for spectators via a projector has been tested and proven
to be effective; enabling spectators follow and enjoy the
game. However multiple games taking place in a venue,
such as Mock and Dipping games are not projected. Here
is a list of the items required for a match:

The following personnel and sport officials are assigned by
the Tournament Director to coordinate games at a match
venue:

Trained volunteers will also be deployed to assist the sport
personnel.
MANAGING ECCLESiA LEAGUE MATCH
ECCLESiA LEAGUE SPORT OUTFIT
To meet the global standards of world-class sports, a
unique formal outfit is adopted for players participating in
any organized Precepts Championship.
Male Players: A Blazer over check shirt with bow tie on
chinos pants.
Female Players: A Blazer over check shirt with a scarf on
plane skirt (same color with male chinos pants for players
in a Bible Club).
The official sport outfit is mandatory for Bible Clubs that
qualified from the CFC for a place in the League. The
Coach with team members will decide on the name of
their Team and 2 color combinations for the Club’s outfit.

21. in order to minimize the factor of luck and give advantage
to Teams (or player) that is more Bible literate, which is
the essence of the game in the first place, unique match
schedules are adopted for Precepts match competitions
for various engagements and levels or rounds.
The 4 match schedules and corresponding Standard
Scoring Pattern (SSP) are explained in detail in The Game
Management Manual for Precepts Game. These will be
summarized to show how it impacts on the cost
requirement published in the Business Plan.

2. Group Match Schedule.
The aim of the Group Match Schedule is to ensure that all
the players in a team play one game each and that one
player in a team is paired against one player in a group
(this is not possible in the conventional 4-team grouping);
hence, Precepts Group matches have 5 (not 4) Teams in a
Group: Schedule used to qualify Teams for the Finals.
The pairing for Group Match Schedule is similar to the Cell
Schedule; however the identical number pairing is odd for
one player in four of the groups. For instance:

A League division is composed of 16 Teams of 4 players
each; players complete 4 matches (2 Home & 2 Away)
each against 15 opponents. Winner of the League is
decided after all Bible Clubs has completed 16 matches.

Rewards and Prizes in any sport is a powerful motivator
and one of the reasons athletes strive for mastery.
The reward system of Precepts Game – the Bible Quotient
– is applied in various ways in a competition to decide
winners, depending on the Match schedule: in the Heat
(Dipping round) and the Group stage teams qualify based
on cumulative Talents in the round & Players’ Avg. Points.
Knockout game is decided in favor of Team that won 2 of 3
games; winning individual matches byTalent or points.
Successful teams are recognized and rewarded:
1. Cash Prizes.
Teams that attained a threshold qualification in a
Tournament are rewarded with substantial Cash prizes. In
addition to the prize money for Tournament winner, a
weekly stipend for players and coaches (depending on the
Class) is proposed for Ecclesia League Championship.
2. Consolation Prizes.
Consolation prizes will be presented to Teams that
participated, but did not reach milestone for cash rewards.
3. League Competition Trophy.
In line with the objectives of the Game, the trophy that will
be awarded to the League winner will be a model of
popular and sacred objects in the Bible, such as the Golden

The Mission of the Precepts Game Sport ministry is to establish a sport-based Bible
Education system that makes studying the Bible easy and enjoyable for youths, and
aid the development of talents in the Arts for the purpose of utilizing the media to
propagate the Kingdom of God.
The impact of this ministry is easily perceptible considering the biblical evidence of the
tremendous ability the Holy Spirit endows the heart exposed to the word of God! The
gamification of Ecclesia League Table provides enough incentives to lock 192 youths
annually in the League in this intimate experience with the Holy Bible!
Ecclesia League Bible Education system will impact significantly on the Church as an
institution, as it will provide a much-needed Training program that will equip children’s
teachers and youth leaders with up-to-date knowledge and skills to better teach and
lead their wards to develop their God-given gifts and an opportunity to explore new
skills in the Arts. The target is to enroll and train 300 Teachers in the InDesign
Leadership Development Process annually.
Each of the Certified InDesign Leaders are expected to engage an average of 12
interested adolescents in their community in the educational program in various
disciplines of the Harmonics of the Bible (literary, visual and performing Arts) and
Precepts Game. Ecclesia League quartet sport incentives will drive competition and
mastery of the Word to enter the League and to perform or exhibit gifts (for Arts
students) at the match events. This will effectually result in transformed lives. The
effect of nurturing 3,600 Bible-literate youths, who every year beget their kind will
impact significantly on the society.
The media broadcast of the Precepts Championship – Ecclesia League – provides
constant motivation for more and more youths to want to be part of the exciting
experience and therefore exposed or rather immersed in the word of God! Ecclesia
League 2020 will ignite a cycle that when consolidated in Nigeria and replicated in
other countries, will subtly spark a global revival that will cause the earth to be full of
the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea! Isaiah 11:9.

25. Stanley Ohanugo has served as parish pastor in The Redeemed Christian
Church of God on 3 occasions (North V, Abuja 1999; Enugu Province, Nsukka
2004 and Lagos Province 36, 2014). After his B.Eng. Degree in Civil (UNN) and
later receiving the salvation of Christ, he was called to a youth ministry that
took him back to minister specifically to members of the university secret cult.
This would mark the beginning of his unconventional youth ministry.
He took a writers’ course with a UK-based publishing firm, Author Online,
which enabled him document a first-hand remedial story about the university
confraternity system: the novel Disciples of the Inverted Cross is a compelling
story that relives Jesus in contemporary times.
In the same way the novel was inspired to point to the Bible and help young
readers appreciate the redemptive work of Jesus, the Lord guided Stanley to
adapt the Scrabble for a Bible game branded, Precepts Crossword Puzzle.
Stanley’s ministry is characterized by a resilient persuasion to explore ways of
adapting alternative teaching models embedded in visual media that are
germane to youths living in the digital age. His latest creation, Harmonics of
Bible Education (Arts-based Bible education) draws from his years of
experience as a pastor, an author, screenplay writer and instructor, business
developer, visual media and gamification expert, game & software developer
(Precepts, Making Money, BrandZilla and EduSupport virtual classroom apps).
Ecclesia League is a novel Bible education concept aimed at bringing an
exciting and alluring Bible experience to a virtually-oriented youth generation.

class global sports organization that will take this
Scrabble-styled competition to the uttermost parts of
the world – filling the earth with the knowledge of the
Lord, as the waters cover the sea.
The enormous human and fiscal resources needed to
fulfill this ministry mandate is depicted in the
programs outlined in the Manifesto. It looks
daunting, and it’s even incredible to think that the
little seed that has been sown, the little sparks of
excitement and flames of joy we have ignited in the
hearts of a few youths and children who have played
Precepts™ Game could go beyond here. No. What is
impossible is this flame ever being put out. The
prophecy is sure…”the knowledge of the Lord will fill
the earth!”
We have already started the journey, what began
with a dream in 2004 when the Holy Spirit birthed the
concept of adapting the Scrabble for a Bible game has
become a sensation among youths. Precepts™ is also
available in App version. We are building a website to
manage the sport, when it’s ready, we will make it
public for all information about the games, download
of the app and sale of hardcopy of the board game.

to support a fulfilling vocational Christian service.

individuals/organizations adopting an Academy: this
entails sponsoring a leader to our training, enabling
the children to take part in the Academy scheme.
