500/5000 LIST
Introduction
• Operating in across the country, Sphyra follows the
leadership of CEO Shane Hurley. The company creates
state-of-the-art programs and merchant portals that accept
debit, credit, and loyalty cards with very low rates. In
2011 and 2012, Sphyra made the prestigious Inc.
500|5000 list. Due to Hurley’s persistence and
leadership, the firm placed as #598 in 2012, which made
it the 37th fastest growing financial services company in
America.
About 500|5000
• Every September, Inc. Magazine releases its 500|5000
list. A highly sought-after honor, these lists acknowledge
the fastest growing private companies in the United
States. Since starting the project in 1982 with only 500
names, Inc. has provided firms such as Toys ‘R’
Us, Zipcar, and 7-Eleven with their first national
exposure. Expanding to 5,000 businesses in 2007, the
magazine honors remarkable companies by highlighting
them as entrepreneurial leaders.
Conclusion
• To earn inclusion, businesses must be privately held and
for-profit. They are judged based on the overall
percentage growth of annual revenue over a three-year
period. Additionally, the list requires baseline revenue.
For example, for 2013 eligibility, applicants must have
earned at $100,000 in 2009 and at least $2 million in
2012. For more information on how to apply, visit
