ABOUT ONE WITH THE WATER
TESTIMONIALS
“My daughter Mallika is doing wonderful these days. She’s swimming independently now, from one end of the
pool to the other. She goes swimming three times a week. And it’s amazing to see her confidence in the
water now. Thank you for all your hard work. It is really unbelievable what she is able to do now.”
Anuj S., parent
“I would like to thank you so much for teaching me how to swim. You taught me something that is life changing,
especially because I’m from a town where everyone knows how to swim. I cannot describe the joy I feel while I’m
swimming in the water. Whenever I swim, whether back home in the southern Mediterranean or anywhere else, I
will always remember that I was taught how to swim by One with the Water’s coach Ali.”
Ihab Kanoun, student
“I’m so amazed by how far Nico has come in just a few short swimming lessons—and more important, he is
really having fun! Coach Ali’s great smile and sense of humor make it easy for Nico to connect with her—so
important in developing a sense of trust. And she does a great job of pushing Nico’s comfort zone each week,
without going too far and scaring him away. Thank you!” - Meredith Shaikh, parent
One with the Water®’s approach to swimming lessons goes beyond individual capacity building to
include investments in partnerships – local and national. By working closely with dedicated
community members such as early childhood educators, teachers, and staff from other local
therapy organizations, One with the Water builds strong and lasting relationships within the local
communities to ensure long-term sustainability of our work.
When designing Community Impact and Outreach programs, One with the Water completes a
thorough assessment to understand both the needs and assets of the community. One with the
Water meets the needs of any ethnic or religious group. We are highly sensitive toward our very
diverse community. It is our top priority and highest goal to reach as many people as possible who
would not otherwise be able to afford swimming lessons and give them the life-skill of swimming.
Swimming is not only the most healthy form of exercise, but it is also the most affordable and
accessible form of exercise in the world.
Our programs:
• Foster the physical, mental, and social development of children to
teach important values and life skills, especially the life -skill of
swimming;
• Educate and mobilize communities around health and disease and
prevention and care;
• Create change and have a sustainable impact. We work in partnership
with local organizations to build community infrastructure through the
engagement of local staff and volunteers.
