User Experience Designer
I am a socially engaged user-centered designer. My work brings together
insights from human-computer interaction, engineering, visual design,
and ethnographic research to create digital tools that solve complex user
problems. I am available for immediate employment as a UX Designer.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Workers’ Defense Project (WDP), Austin Aug. 2015—Present
User Experience and User Interface Designer (Volunteer)
• Conceptualized and designed an Android and iOS mobile
application, with an agile development team of four, for low-wage
day laborers in Texas to counter the problem of wage theft
• Created interactive data visualizations illustrating more than 50,000
wage theft cases and work-site injuries in Texas using Tableau

• Oversaw the operation of all media lab equipment and resolved
technology related queries received from over 60 lab users at a time
• Conducted 20+ 3D printing experiments contributing to a $600,000
maker space development project

• Assisted 10 low-wage day laborers in Austin in seeking relevant legal
help in cases of wage theft and work—site injury
• Conducted 20+ advising sessions with workers to document
information about their wage theft claims amounting to $10,000
• Re-designed communication material for intern and volunteering
training used by the organization on a monthly basis

• Led experimental research on interaction of Guanine-rich DNA with
Silver nanoparticles and made recommendations for tumor research
KEY DESIGN PROJECTS
Informarnos— Mobile App Aug. 2015—Present
• Headed the design and development of an Android and iOS app for
day laborers in Texas to assist them in making informed employment
decisions by accessing past records of predatory employers
• Planned and led research studies including surveys, interviews,
observational user research, and customer journey mapping with 45
participants at Workers’ Defense Project in Austin
• Conducted usability testing using innovative design thinking
methods that resulted in a 75% increase in participation
• Developed use case flows, personas, wireframes, information
architecture, prototypes, and user interface using Illustrator, InDesign,
Balsamiq, and InVision
Su Voz, Su Decisión— Participatory Exhibition Jan.—May 2016
• Designed and curated a participatory exhibition for my thesis project
which is a data-driven system to support day laborers in Texas in
making informed employment decisions
• Created a database of over 50,000 employers in Texas found guilty
of wage theft and worksite injury, and developed a system of physical
data visualization using projection mapping and digital fabrication

• Designed an iOS app for displaying short conversations as icons on
physical objects (such as a lamp) around the receiver
• Conducted user research to identify user needs through qualitative
and quantitative research, task analysis, and usability testing
• Created storyboards, wireframes, low and high-fidelity prototypes,
and user interface using Balsamiq, Axure RP, Photoshop, and Sketch

• Designed an iOS app using iOS Human Interface Guidelines to
enable students of UT Austin manage multiple group projects on
their phones
• Evaluated designs using heuristic evaluations, user interviews,
stakeholder analysis, and usability testing
Ahmedabad Alive— Graphic Novel Dec. 2013—May 2014
• Conceptualized, scripted, and illustrated a graphic novel telling the
story of the city of Ahmedabad in Gujarat, India
