2. South Carolina is where I am originally from, and where I consider home. Although I have been in South Carolina for years, I chose to go to College in NC for Undergrad, and VA for Graduate School.
3. As I prepared to further my education, I chose to attend college in NC for my Undergraduate degree. This major move took me on a “journey”, which basically led me through my cultural adjustment stages. These stages include: Eager expectations, Everything is Beautiful, Everything is Awful, Gradual Adjustment, and Everything is OK……
4. My move to Virginia would have to be the one that I was “shocked” the most about. I encountered the challenges of all the Cultural Adjustment Stages, which can also be described by the V-Curve of Intercultural Adjustment…..
5. Eager Expectations (I was very “eager” to move to VA and get away from home in SC) Everything is Beautiful (I love the beach…and the weather here is great!!) Everything is Awful (I hate it here, I don’t know anyone and I want to go home) Gradual Adjustment (I made friends in the program, and really got to know other people and get out more.) Everything is OK!! (Although I’m still in the midst of adjusting, I feel that everything is OK, and I may actually survive the rest of the semester…)
