1. OCMA’s mission against human trafficking
began in 2009 after a group of Oklahoma
Christian students came together to watch
Trade, a film depicting the horrors of modern
sex slavery. United by the conviction that hu-
man trafficking, both abroad and here in Okla-
homa, must be stopped, these students formed
a club called OCATH (Oklahoma Christians
Against Trafficking Humans), which took the
name of OC Modern Abolitionists in 2010.
OCMA continues the fight against human traf-
ficking by hosting film viewings, fundraisers,
and a yearly Week of Awareness on the OC
campus.
We always welcome new members to join our
club and lend support to the cause!

2. Think slavery ended in the 19th
century? Think again.
Human trafficking, the buying and selling
of humans for sexual exploitation or la-
bor, is the fastest growing and most prof-
itable organized crime. Unlike illegal
drugs, a human body is a “product” which
can be sold again and again. Every year,
an estimated 700,000 to 2 million people
are victims of human trafficking, with a
shocking 100,000 American children traf-
ficked within U.S. boarders. Less than 1%
are identified, and even fewer are rescued.
Thankfully, the number of supporters in
the fight against human trafficking is also
growing every year, with organizations
reaching out all over the world. OCMA is
happy to support several of these organi-
zations, including All Things New, Okla-
homa Against Human Trafficking, Exo-
dus Cry, and the Red Thread Movement.
Organizations We Support
Beautiful Dream Society
With bases in Lesotho, Africa and in Oklahoma
City, Beautiful Dream Society works to restore the
lives of human traf-
ficking victims and
encourage creativity,
self-esteem, and life
skills. BDS rebuilds
the dreams of res-
cued women and children through a four-step proc-
ess: Victim Relief, Perpetrator Accountability, Vic-
tim After-Care, and Structural Prevention. From
their Oklahoma base, BDS hosts community train-
ing events to raise awareness of trafficking at the
local level, while also providing crisis care assistance
to victims rescued locally.
The Red Thread Movement
Maybe you have seen others wearing those red
bracelets around campus and wondered about the
new fashion trend. Actually, these bracelets are a
way for you to show your
support for women rescued
out of slavery. Each bracelet
is handmade by one of the
former victims and provides
them with a means of in-
come.
If you would like to show
your support, you may pur-
chase a Red Thread bracelet
for $3. See an OCMA mem-
ber for details—or better yet,
become an OCMA member!
Your Support
Want to know more about the anti-human
trafficking movement and how you can get
involved? OCMA will hold weekly meetings
on Tuesdays at 9pm to raise awareness of
local and global trafficking, and to discuss
future projects. Both members and non-
members are welcome to attend. Email jenni-
fer.loe@eagles.oc.edu to be put on our mail-
ing list and receive updates.
If you would like to show your support of the
cause through donation, stay tuned for up-
coming fundraisers and events, or see an
OCMA member.
The greatest way you can show your support
is through continued prayer. Though so many
victims remain unknown, God knows each
victim by name, and knows every pain they
bare. Please pray for the continued success of
organizations who seek to liberate and reha-
bilitate those enslaved. Thank you also for
your continued prayers for the efforts of
Oklahoma Christian Modern Abolitionists.
