My digital life

 1. 1. My Digital LifeShelby CraigHumanities 20-1
Ten ways I use technology:

I use computers, to research, play games, and talk with online friends/family.
 2. 2. I use iPods to listen to music, and show people what kind of music I like.
 3. 3. I use video games to bond with friends and families.
 4. 4. I use cellular devices to contact friends, family, and work life.
 5. 5. I use cameras to take pictures and capture memories to look back on.
 6. 6. I use a D-Link to hook up the internet and go on web sites.
 7. 7. I use TV’s to watch the news, movies, and TV shows and figure out what the rest of the world is doing.
 8. 8. I use DVD player’s to watch movies when I have nothing else to do at home
 9. 9. I use calculators to solve problems in Math or at work.

5 URL addresses and hyperlinks

 10. 10. This website is used to search throughout the entire web world, it is used for research. I use it when I cannot find something at first, and have to search it up.
 11. 11.
 12. 12. This website is a communication website; it is used to communicate with people all around the world that also have it. I use it to find out what all my family is up to, and what my friend’s plans are. I also use it to find old friends and how they are.
 13. 13.
 14. 14. This website is an information site, it is used to begin with a search and then broadly expand on what that subject is. I use it to find about people all around the world when I am researching. Or I use it to find out the ending of a scary movie, so I know how the movie ends and I’m not so scared.
 15. 15.
 16. 16. This website is a movie search engine, it allows you to search up your favorite movies and learn more about them such as plots, quotes, actors, and scripts. I use it to find out who plays which character in the movie, or information about where it was filmed.
 17. 17.
 18. 18. This website is used for our Humanities 20-1 class, and includes all assignments or missing information. I use this to find out which information to use for which assignments and when they should be in. This is a very useful site for school.

Digital Citizenship

By definition, digital citizenship means norms of behavior with regard to technological use. But to me, digital citizenship means how using technology affects the way people act. To continue or improve my digital citizenship I will:
 19. 19. Continue only using computers for communication and final copy assignments.
 20. 20. Using television to find out what is going on with the world and watching my favorite movies.
 21. 21. Using video games to teach me how to keep my cool when zombies over run the world.
 22. 22. I will continue using my cellular device for communicating with my friends and family.
 23. 23. I will use the internet to find out all the global situations and news, so I am part of globalization.

The Perfect Classroom

When I imagine a perfect classroom environment with technology used for learning, it doesn’t look very perfect. With technology comes more concentration, and with more concentration comes less interaction. If we all used technology in school, we could lose focus of the teacher, our classmates, and our friends. When a classroom only focuses on technology, a lot of kids will grow up with long fingers, typing fingers and won’t even know what a pencil is or how to write. Evolution will take its course on the next generation if we use too much technology. The perfect classrooms are already here, a few computers and a smart screen so that kids can also interact with the teacher and their classmates. A perfect classroom is one that cooperates, and is not independent on an inorganic fad. In this ‘perfect’ classroom, all the students are focused on computer screens, doing damage to their retinas and communication skills. The teacher is putting assignments on the web site, not knowing if the students are actually focused on the importance of it. Technology makes everyone lazy. When I think of kids or adults using technology everyday it reminds me of the movie Wall·E, everybody on the big space ship sit in the automatic hovering chairs, talking on monitors all day. They only use computers, and never looked away from there for a very long time. (Notice how they all are morbidly obese.) This is not the world I want to live in, and that’s the only thing that comes to mind when I think of schools letting children use laptops all the time instead of pencils and paper.

Three Bad, One Solution

When students are encouraged to use laptops or other devices in school I see three shocking things happening. One, they have become less dependent on friends and more on their technologies. Two, I see children becoming illiterate and off in their possessed petite world, not caring to look up. Three, I see school being more about owning a laptop than a pencil, and paper, and those who can’t afford a laptop will be left out. Sure it may be more efficient, but will it be significant enough?
 24. 24. Now, I see one solution that would help with these issues. Do not let the children bring computers to school, allow them to use the computers at school; it will be better because we cannot use the computers every single day. Keep the school as it is now, with just the amount of teamwork and literacy. It will be much more efficient in the long run.
