and extend yourself to the
values of knowing your
students, building bridges of
hope, and establishing
appreciable educational
relationships. Students living
with less, in poverty, and in
despair are vacuums for
nurturing and sponges for all
of the positive exposure they
can find. DO NOT let their
potential FADE AWAY from
SUCCESS! Walk only a
MINUTE in their shoes!!
Some of my best moments as a teacher in the inner city
of Detroit found me listening to life stories as told by
my students. I gained an appreciation for the roads
they traveled and found out what was “Best For Them”
as I attempted to give them skills and assets for their
ultimate TOOL BOX! Often times, we are not in control
of the dynamics that bring students to our educational
table. We do, however, control the style, the substance,
the reflection and the presentation. You have been and
are charged with the challenges and distractions of
reaching, teaching and impacting young lives and minds
from a multitude of diversity. Take full advantage of
your time and use your personal creativity to make
indelible marks on the future policy setters and leaders.
