This year as most of you Legion baseball followers know the Legion team that was in
first place as of about July 8 was invited to play in the Legion Regional Championship.
From Zone 6 at this time the Hyde Park Legion was in first place, so they have to play
Norwood, the leader in 6A last weekend. The winner of this game would be in a playoff
with seven other county Legion team champions to see would go to the Northeast
Regional Tournament. They want the Regional Tournament earlier this year as it was
interfering with college fall athletics.
Now Milton as well as Hyde Park and the other Zone 6 teams that qualify for the state
tournament will play a tournament at the State “ “ as has been done in the past. The only
thing new is that the teams can only go as far as winning the Massachusetts State
Championship. “ “ of course they won both championships; it will be interesting to see
how things work out.
