1. Objectives of the Study
The proposed study is directed with the following specific objectives:
1. To Study the Socio-Economic life of Textile Workers.
2. To examine the working condition and occupation life of Textile Workers.
3. To know the problems faced by the workers in Textile Industries.
4. To Study the welfare measure provided by the Employers.
5. To examine the social security measures meant for the Industrial Workers.
6. To examine the scope of social work intervention for improvement of life of the Industrial
Workers.
Sampling
The Study of entire universe is neither rational nor permissible when there are constraints of time, money
and technicalities so keeping this in view the present study will be based on descriptive and diagnostic
research design.
To achieve maximum objectivity of the present study, and to give a holistic coverage, it has been decided
to select seven Textile Industries employing 500 or more workers on an average daily basis in a calendar
year.
Therefore, from every selected industry, a representative group of 500 workers will be selected through
proportionate random sampling.

Deduction of Workmen-1.75 % if Gross Salary is less than or equal to Rs. 15000
Contribution of Employer-4.75%

PF Benefits under EPF & MP Act 1952
PF Deduction of workmen-12% of Basic. Basic Should not be more than Rs.6500
Contribution of Employer-12%(3.67% in PF & 8.33% in Pension)
Benefits
1.Pension Benefit
a) In case of Death pension is provided to dependents(Maximum 3 dependents Wife+2 Children.
Children should be less than 25 years).
b) In case of Superannuation pension is provided to workmen which is calculated on the basis of current
basic.
2. 2. Advance for Home, Car, Marriage, Education provided to workmen(To get advance minimum of 5 years
service is required)
Gratuity Benefit under Payment of Gratuity Act 1972
• For availing Gratuity Benefit Length of service should be of Minimum 5 years and 240 days of
working is required in every year.
• Gratuity amount is calculated as:-
Current basic * 15 * Length of service

• If length of service is 5.5 years then workmen will get gratuity for 6 years.
