Itwas a greatpleasurepresentinga sessionat the 2010PA Communityon
TransitionConferencewith Ms. Brown. The conferencewas attendedby almost900
transitionstakeholders,includingyouthandyoungadultswithdisabilities,families,
educators,advocatesand agencystaff. lt was heldin StateCollege,PA on July2123,
2010.
I co-presenteda one-hoursessiontargetlngyouthandyoungadultswithdisabilities
aboutthe importanceof languagewhencommunicatingwithandaboutpeoplewith
disabilities.Despitelastminuteschangesin presenters,Ms. Brownadaptedto presenting
withme,eventhoughwe hadnevermet. The originally-scheduledco-presenter,Beth
Solomon,was unableto attend.
Sarahdidexcellentjob co-presentingwith me duringthe session.Shewas relaxed
andwas veryprofessionalin her presentationstyle.Shewaswell-versedon thetopicand
sharedpersonalstories,whichwas well-receivedby the audience.She encouragedand
facilitatedparticipantdiscussionsthroughoutthe presentation,encouragingyouthto share
theirstories,whichwas verypowerful.Shesharedher passionaboutthe topic,and
energizedthe audience.
As an experiencedconferencepresenterandexpertin thefield,lwas very
impressedwithMs.Brown'sknowledgeandskillsas a speakerat thisstatewide
conference.
