15. Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) Study
One of the largest investigations on childhood abuse, neglect, and early
life challenges and later-life health and well-being.
Originally conducted from 1995-1997, collecting data from over 17,000
persons in Kaiser Permanente (KP) care.
KP continues to collect longitudinal data, as well as new data sets, to
explore the interconnectedness of ACE and health outcomes.
Over 2/3 of those surveyed experienced at least ONE ACE.
As the number of ACEs increases so does the risk for negative outcomes.
ACEs include witnessing, experiencing, and other exposure to events.
