processes too.

Tips & Guidelines for Safety in Fusion or Welding process
• Ensure that the welder can sit comfortably when welding.
• Protect the welder using a fire retardant apron, leather gloves & face shield.
• Provide the welder with a hand shield or fully covered face shield with DIN13 glasses to
protect the welder’s eyes from arc.
• Ensure proper earthing of electric current. No loose wires or broken cables.
• Ensure proper ventilation to ensure safety during welding process
• Keep all necessary fire safety equipment in the vicinity of the welder.
• Provide all necessary first aid items near the welding booth.
• Ensure that all welding machines are fitted with ELCB or RCCB. preventing an electric shock
to the operator at all times (ELCB /RCCB –Ensures automatic cut-off of welding equipment
without any power leaks).
• Prefer using auto-darkening helmets and fume extractors when welding in enclosed or
cramped workspaces.
• Use signs like hot metal to avoid injuries.
• Use all necessary tools and tackles to ensure welding safety at all times.
Safety Tips using gas welding Or Oxy-fuel process:
Storage:
• Protect cylinders from heat, physical damage, and tampering.
• Store cylinders in trolley, securely chained to prevent a fall.
• Always keep gas cylinders in a standing, upright position.
• Always use protective caps or regulators on cylinders.
• Close cylinder valves before moving or shifting them.
1.
Tips during usage:
• Inspect all gas cylinders and connections for leaks using an approved leak-test solution.
• Inspect hoses for wear & tear and leaks. Replace bad hoses. Avoid using connectors.
• Open any cylinder valve very slowly to avoid an explosion from sudden high pressure
on the regulator.
• Stand aside (away from the regulators) when opening cylinder valves.
• Protect hoses and cylinders from sparks, flames, and hot metal.
• Open an acetylene cylinder’s valve with a ¼-¾ turn only; leave wrench in place so the
cylinder can be quickly closed in an emergency.
• Always use a flint lighter to ignite a flame.
• Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for shutting off the torch. If guidelines are
not readily available, the most commonly accepted practice is to close the oxygen valve
first.
• Once finished, close cylinder valves, flush out residual gases to take pressure off
regulators, neatly coil hoses, and replace all the equipment.
• Have a fire extinguisher easily accessible at the welding site.
Personal Protection for Welders or PP
• Protect your eyes using recommended safety glasses.
• Welder to wear protective fire-retardant apron and leather hand gloves.
• Welder to wear safety shoes and straight cut pants.
• When handling overhead work, worker needs a fire-resistant welder’s cap and shoulder
covers.
.
Follow these practices to ensure a safe environment and workplace, keeping all your welders and
welding safe.
