2. Concrete Crack
Concrete cracks can be caused by several
reasons including improper
construction methods and material
composition. As concrete ages the
cracking is normal and it can be
repaired by using various methods
including Epoxy injection which we
will be explaining in this guide.

3. Epoxy Injection
Epoxy Injection is the method of
injecting epoxy into the crack in the
concrete to fill up the gaps and stick
the concrete together for a long life of
concrete. The cracks are filled with
epoxy as it flows and fills the cracks
when applied pressure via ports.

5. Overview
As shown in the images the cracks are
fitted with ports for epoxy injection
then the crack is sealed to avoid epoxy
leakage. When the seal dries and all
ports are in place the epoxy injection is
started using Bottom-Up approach for
better results.

6. Steps of implementing epoxy
injection
www.creativeconcreteandcutting.com.au
Clean the cracks
Install the entry and venting ports
Seal the surfaces
Mix the epoxy
Inject the epoxy
Remove the surface seal
7. Clean The cracks
Cleaning a crack is necessary. It is
primary step because it ensures
successful epoxy injection. You
can use Blowers, Vacuum or other
traditional method to clean a
crack. If there is Moss in the
Crack you can use blowtorch to
burn it. After that use blower and
vacuum to finish the cleaning.

8. Install the entry and venting
ports
Installing the entry and Venting
ports is important. The optimal
distance between two ports
depends on the width of the
crack if the crack is very thin you
can use ports at a longer distance.
But no more than 6” . The
venting ports are necessary to
allow the epoxy to flow.

9. Seal the surfaces
The sealing is necessary
to avoid spilling of epoxy
when injecting in the
cracks. The cracks can be
sealed using polyester
polymer or epoxy any of
them can be used to
make a solid seal. The
cracks are sealed
properly and the gap
between the ports
should also be sealed.

10. Mix The Epoxy
Mixing of the epoxy
should be done
according to the
manufacturer guide
lines. The amount of
epoxy should be decided
according to the work
need. Mixing extra epoxy
is never good. As it will
be plain waste if not
used in time.

11. Injecting Epoxy
Injecting epoxy is the
work of patience. Start
from bottom ports and
move upwards to ensure
there are no voids or
bubbles in the epoxy.
Epoxy flows slow so wait
until it comes out of an
upper port. Close the
port you have finished.

12. Remove the surface seal
After the epoxy is injected wait
for it to settle and dry. After few
days you can remove the seal by
using chisels or grinders the
ports will come out easily and
you can then apply a final seal
over the repaired part to fill up
any defects while removing the
seal.
