doubt, disappointed, etc.).
â˘Social isolation can play tricks with your emotions
â˘Be careful with big decisions â HALT (Hungry, Angry,
Lonely, Tired).

attitudes in the same way that others learn them: by
hearing themselves talk!

have managed stress successfully in the past.

hope.
â˘Keep a heavenward focus!
13. An Old Testament Perspective for Stressful Living:
â˘The Prophet Jeremiah was Godâs spokesperson during
the reigns of Judahâs final 5 kings (627-586 BC).
â˘Nebuchadnezzarâs army is outside the city walls of
Jerusalem with Zedekiah as final king.
â˘Part of Judah has already been taken as exiles to
Babylon (Israel was already exiled in Assyria).
â˘The borders are not secured, and the people are
oppressed by hostility, war and famine.
14. An Old Testament Perspective for Stressful Living:
â˘The people are seeking a political solution and leader
to bring peace and prosperity.
â˘Jeremiah has prophesied that Judah will be held in
captivity in Babylon for 70 years.
â˘God gives Jeremiah a prophecy of a regathering of the
people and restoration in the future, which is actually
a description of the future millennial reign of the
Messiah in Israel.
15. God promises âhope and a futureâ to Judah.
â˘Jeremiah 29:10-11 NIV
10 This is what the Lord says: âWhen seventy years are
completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill
my gracious promise to bring you back to this place. 11
For I know the plans I have for you,â declares the Lord,
âplans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to
give you hope and a future.
â˘God wanted them to focus on their future in Him and
not the surrounding circumstances.
16. God Promises a Righteous King.
⢠Jeremiah 23:5-6 NIV
5 âThe days are coming,â declares the Lord,
âwhen I will raise up to David a righteous Branch,
a King who will reign wisely
and do what is just and right in the land.
6 In his days Judah will be saved
and Israel will live in safety.
This is the name by which he will be called:
The Lord Our Righteousness.â
17. Jesus is the Fulfillment as the Righteous King.
â˘The angel Gabriel speaks to Mary:
â˘Luke 1:31-33 NIV
31 You will be with child and give birth to a son, and
you are to give him the name Jesus. 32 He will be
great and will be called the Son of the Most High.
The Lord God will give him the throne of his father
David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob
forever; his kingdom will never end.â
18. God Promises a New Covenant.
⢠Jeremiah 31:31-32 NIV
31 âThe days are coming,â declares the Lord,
âwhen I will make a new covenant
with the house of Israel
and with the house of Judah.
32 It will not be like the covenant
I made with their forefathers
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they broke my covenant,
though I was a husband to them,â declares the Lord.
19. Jesus Christ is the Fulfillment of the New Covenant.
⢠Luke 22:20 NIV
20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup,
saying, âThis cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is
poured out for you.â
⢠Hebrews 9:15 NIV
15 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant,
that those who are called may receive the promised eternal
inheritanceânow that he has died as a ransom to set them
free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
20. The Promise of the Holy Spirit:
â˘Jeremiah 31:33 NIV
33 âThis is the covenant I will make with the house of
Israel
after that time,â declares the Lord.
âI will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.â
21. God Sends the Holy Spirit.
⢠John 14:16-17a, 26-27 NIV
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another
Counselor to be with you foreverâ 17a the Spirit of truth.
26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will
send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind
you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with
you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world
gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be
afraid.
22. God Promised Forgiveness of Sins.
â˘Jeremiah 31:34 NIV
34 âFor I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.â
23. Forgiveness From God Comes Through Jesus.
â˘Romans 3:21-22a, 25a NIV
21 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law,
has been made known, to which the Law and the
Prophets testify. 22a This righteousness from God
comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.
25a God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement,
through faith in his blood.
24. What was God saying to encourage Judah when
facing a difficult, life-altering situation?
â˘God has a future plan for His chosen people (Israel)
and for all who have trusted in His Son, Jesus Christ.
â˘God keeps His promises and wants us to focus on
those as we face difficulties in life.

creation, will be able to separate us from the love of
God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

For Iâm the God who sees.
Iâm the God who sees.
51. The Plan of Hope & Salvation
John 3:16-17 NKJV
16 âFor God so loved the world that He gave His only

perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His
Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the

one comes to the Father except through Me.â
52. The Plan of Hope & Salvation
Romans 3:23 NKJV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 6:23a NKJV
23a For the wages of sin is death,
⢠Death in this life (the first death) is 100%.
⢠Even Jesus, the only one who doesnât deserve death, died in this
life to pay the penalty for our sin.
⢠The death referred to in Romans 6:23a is the âsecond deathâ
explained in Revelation 21:8.
53. The Plan of Hope & Salvation
Revelation 21:8 NKJV
8 âBut the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually
immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the
lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.â
⢠Anyone whoâs lifestyle is one or more of the sins listed in Revelation
21:8, will experience the âsecond death,â if they do not repent.

away from sin and believe in Jesus.
Romans 5:8 NKJV
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were
still sinners, Christ died for us.
54. The Plan of Hope & Salvation

Lord.

believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto
righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation.
Romans 10:13 NKJV
13 For âwhoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.â
