Where to shop
The printmaker, designer
and Toronto transplant walks us
through her Parisian favourites
I recently moved to... the 2nd arrondisement in the neighbourhood known
as the Sentier. It’s the Paris Garment District. I’m a few blocks away from
rue Montorgueil, a lovely pedestrian market street. In the other direction
is the hip Faubourg Saint Denis area.
My studio is in... the 3rd arrondisement near the Carreau du Temple.
I love this area for its cafés, restaurants and the Enfants Rouge market.

PARIS
CALLA HAYNES’
My dog Lilybear loves... the beach! She also loves walks in
the Bois de Vincennes, the largest public park in Paris.
For a morning business meeting... I like Claus in the 1st. Café de Flore on
boulevard Saint Germain is a classic and great for a special occasion.
Le Progrès is near my studio in the 3rd, and is good for people watching.
If there’s one food you shouldn’t miss...
it’s the delicious crêpes at Café Breizh
on rue Vieille de Temple.
My favourite shops are... Le Bon Marché department store in the 6th, and
I like window shopping at the designer shops on rue Sainte Honoré.
A good walking path for shoppers... is Boulevard Beaumarchais
(Merci, Kitsuné, Maison Plisson) to rue Froissart (Acne Studios) to rue
Vieille de Temple (French Trotters, Yvan Lambert Bookshop, Tsumori
Chisato) to rue Franc Bourgeois where you have
all the French contemporary brands and lots of
beauty brands.
For a long weekend... we go to Ile de Ré on the
Atlantic Coast — it’s so beautiful there.
