2. WELCOME TO NEW COLLEGE CHAPEL
Everyone is welcome to our chapel services. We are an inclusive community and
hope that the chapel provides a place where anyone can come for peaceful reflection
supported by our liturgy and music. The chapel ethos is expressed in this prayer by
Bishop Thomas Ken, a fellow of the college in the seventeenth century:
O God, make the door of this house wide enough to receive all who need human love and
fellowship; narrow enough to shut out all envy, pride and strife. Make its threshold smooth enough
to be no stumbling block to children, nor to straying feet, but rugged and strong enough to turn
back the tempter’s power. God make the door of this house the gateway to thy divine kingdom.
Amen.

Emily Young Sculptures in the
Cloisters
The college is hosting an exhibition of
work by internationally acclaimed sculptor
Emily Young, ‘Britain’s greatest living stone
sculptor’. This is the first time that the
cloisters, home to sculpture and monuments
dating from medieval times, will host a solo
exhibition by a contemporary sculptor.
The exhibition will be open:
