WIUX TO KICK OFF ANNUAL PLEDGE DRIVE
Student radio volunteers begin their biggest week of fundraising
WIUX is hosting Pledge Drive, its annual fundraising week, from October 13-20. Funds raised during
Pledge Drive help ensure that WIUX is technologically capable of providing the highest quality program-
ming.
WIUX recently moved into a new station house (715 E. 8th Street), and is in need of new equipment to im-
prove its broadcast quality. Among the equipment needs are a new tieline to allow for remote broadcasting,
soundproof paneling for its studios, and new direct digital synthesis (DDS) to improve the overall quality of
its broadcasts.
This year’s Pledge Drive goal is $5,000. To reach this goal, WIUX is increasing its fundraising efforts by
having daily events both on and off campus, not only to reach out to the student body, but also to the en-
tire Bloomington community.
Pledge Drive kicks off Tuesday, Oct. 14., with Restaurant Day at Buffalouie’s. When diners mention WIUX,
a portion of the cost goes to the station. There will also be a live sports show and a live DJ. On Wednesday,
Oct. 15., WIUX is hosting a slam poetry night at the station house. The cost to perform is $1, and donations
are welcome. On Thursday, Oct. 16., WIUX will host a movie night in Room 102 of the Fine Arts building
from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. We will be showing Wayne’s World and Wayne’s World 2. Friday, Oct. 15., is the
White Reaper concert at the Bishop at midnight. Tickets are $5 when purchased through WIUX or $10 at
the door. Saturday, Oct. 16., WIUX will be hosting a tailgate at the IU tailgate fields. Come support IU foot-
ball and pure student radio!
At various events, guests can enter to win prizes such as Chance the Rapper tickets or WIUX merchandise.
WIUX will be airing special Pledge Drive-related programming all week long in order to promote the events
and raise station awareness. If you wold like to donate, there is a “GiveNow” button at the top of the WIUX
website. WIUX encourages the entire Bloomington community to support student radio and content. Your
support is greatly appreciated.
