A letter to Saudi Prince Muhammad bin Salman from an Avant-Garde Imam, Salima el Musalima

1. In the name of Allah,
the Compassionating, the compassionate!
Praise be to Allah, the creator of the universe, and grace and prayer be upon our prophet
Muhammad.
Your Majesty prince Muhammad bin Salman bin ‘Abd al-Aziz Al Saud,
May Allah’s blessings be with you, your honourable father, king Salman bin Abdulaziz,
custodian of the two holy mosques, your honourable mother, Fahda bint Falah bin Sultan,
your gracious wife Sara bint Mashoor bin Abdulaziz and your children, may they be blessed
with Allah’s compassion and love.
Hoping this letter will reach you in a good health and spirit.
I write to you from the Netherlands, a befriended nation that has kept warm relations with
your country for hundreds of years. May I remind you that the oldest photos of Mecca were
made by a Dutch Arabist, Christiaan Snouck Hurgronje.
Also today the Netherlands shares in it’s expertise and innovations with your blessed
kingdom, for the benefit of the advancement of your country and its people!
My name is Salima el Musalima. I am an Avant-Garde Imam, the first of my kind! Knowing
that in our sacred religion it is not permissible to be a female imam, I have chosen the
permissible path of Art in which I research and promote Islam and try to give a contribution
for the advancement of our people. Especially our children, because they are the future.
I feel Allah has blessed you with the responsibility of a position of power and leadership
with a reason! You have been doing fantastic things for the Muslim community in Saudi
Arabia and around the world. I have taken notice of your hard work to liberate and
emancipate the women of your country. We people from Europe falsely believe that this

2. was for you an easy task. I as a change-worker know too well that it must have not been
easy. And yet, with the help of Allah, you pushed through and created a revolution for
women’s rights in your country! May your parents be blessed in this life and in the afterlife
for raising you as their son!
Our religion has instilled on us a deep faith in Allah and a strong resolution to do what is
good in the world. This was the reason for me to write you this letter. I have raised 482, -
euro’s during my last travel to Paris for the poorest children of the world; the diamond girl-
orphans of Sierra Leone. I did this by visiting all the religious leaders of the city: imams,
rabbi’s, priests, nuns etc. to ask them for a place to stay. In this way I was able to save on
hotel costs. The money I saved went directly to the orphans.

I ask you in this letter not help for myself, but for these poor children who have no voice of
themselves. They work as slaves, children of 4 and 5 years old, digging the most precious
jewellery on earth: diamonds! And yet they are starving and have nobody to turn to except
Allah!
Their families have been murdered in a war that came into existents because of conflicts
that are related to these same diamonds.
If there is anyone deserving of Allah’s grace and compassion it is these children! And all
children are children of Allah, the compassionate one.
I am aware you receive many letters, urgent ones very often, but I promise you, this letter is
a very important one in the eyes of Allah.
We can not let these innocent children suffer while digging up precious diamonds for us!
Allah has created us as custodians of humanity’s children and of our blessed earth.
I ask you to add whatever you can miss to the amount that I have collected! My suggestion
is a donation of 10.000 euro. Insjaallah, then the total amount will become 10.500,- euros,
by the will of Allah.
And if you for any reason are not able to do that I ask for your wife’s prayers for these
orphan girls! I know that being your wife, her majesty Sara’s prayers are answered.
Otherwise she would not have married an honourable and just prince like you!
