Australia Day 2015 is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January
2015, it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Port Jackson,
New South Wales, and raising of the Flag of Great Britain at that site by Governor Arthur Phillip.
In contemporary Australia, celebrations reflect the diverse society and landscape of the nation, and
are marked by community and family events, reflections on Australian history, official community
awards, and citizenship ceremonies welcoming new immigrants into the Australian community.
The year 2015 is just about to start and the most precious day for all the Australian, Australia Day
2015 is getting closer & closer. The day is going to celebrate, starting 24 - 26 January 2015. This
day is always remembered as the day of fun as people enjoy all kinds of events scheduled for them.
It is an enjoyable moment for all the families that get entertained in the Hyde Park. This is a park
where you can get all the possible place to rest and even enjoy all possible ways.
Australia Day 2015 Honours List:
A day awaited all year, Australia Day 2015 for the Australians is an extremely important day
close to their hearts. On this day individuals of all age groups in the country gets out on the
street at least for some time participating in events big or small feeling proud to be an
Australian citizen. The Victorian Award recipients eventually move into another category as
finalists for national awards.

Australian of the Year 2015 NSW (New South Wales)
Deborra-Lee Furness
Deborra-lee Furness, an actor, producer and director, struggles for the rights of children in Australia
and other parts of the world. Mother of two adopted children herself, she set up National Adoption
Awareness Week in 2008, understanding the need to help discarded and weak children. Her only
focus is to help thousands of Australian children with loving homes.
Jackie French
Jackie has published 140 books in 32 languages and has been awarded more than 60 literary prizes
for beloved children’s classics such as Diary of a Wombat. He has won both literary and children’s
choice awards. Conquering dyslexia herself, Jackie is a determined advocate for children with
learning difficulty.
Genevieve Clay-Smith
Genevieve works with different communities to make short films that talk of their experiences. She
holds filmmaking workshops once a week and offers learning prospects. Genevieve spends all her
free time and talent to help marginal Australians step into the spotlight.
Kevin Robinson
Kevin founded Little Wings, a free of cost, safe flight service that takes seriously ill children from
interiors of New South Whales to Sydney. His services have delivered 250 flights with almost 600
passengers a year. Kevin’s main aim is to make a difference in the lives of Australian families
during times of need.
AUSTRALIAN OF THE YEAR 2015 THE VICTORIAN
Rosie Batty, Victorian Australian of the Year 2015, awarded for her contribution as a domestic
violence activist. Her unbelievable might and self-sacrificing hard work has been an encouragement
to many domestic violence victims, making Australia a safer place for women.
Sam Berkovic AC, Neurologist Professor Victorian Australian of the Year 2015, awarded for his
role as the world’s most appreciated neurologists; his study has created history and made the
perceptive of human epilepsy differs, making treatments better.
Thomas King, Victorian Australian of the Year 2015. Thomas, 18 year old built a technique
online with an aim to inform buyers and stop them from buying products that had palm oil.
Louise Davidson, Victorian Local Hero 2015 has been awarded for her role of raising funds for
breast cancer. Louise co-founded Australia’s largest national fun run and breast cancer fundraising
event after her mother passed away from the disease.
Australian of the Year 2015 Queensland
Hetty Johnston AM
Initiator of the charity, Bravehearts, which carries out actions to protect children, Hetty Johnston
has just one aim, making Australia the most secure place in the world for children. Hetty has
devoted her life creating consciousness about child sexual assault and that it can be prevented and
also motivating the nation to be alert and safeguard children.
Fred Hyde AM
Fred Hyde, the 94 year old has dedicated 30 years of his life in rescuing children in Bangladesh,
who were being abandoned. The Bhola Island tidal wave incident in 1970.melted Fred and made
him start his non-profit organization, Co-operation in Development.
Yassmin Abdel-Magied
Yassmin, at the age of 16, established Youth without Borders, an association that facilitates young
people to work jointly to apply positive change within their communities. An idol and role model to
many, Yassmin has been felicitated with many awards. Her success in many genres gives a visual
proof of her hard work and achievements.
Juliette Wright
Juliette Wright wishes to erase poverty from Australia. She is trying to change the ideology of how
poor and marginalized people around the world. Juliette initiated an online portal keeping a check
and seeing to it that good quality products reach places where there are needy people. All her effort
has resulted in donations of more than 126,000 items to less fortunate members of the Australian
community.
Australian of the Year 2015 WA (Western Australia)
Professor Lyn Beazley AO
Lyn built a hotline for lab technicians all over the world, she also worked towards better waterways
in the state by launching Dolphin Watch and also was an active participant in the discussions for
the Square Kilometer Array, a radio telescope project that is possibly the world’s major science
endeavor. Lyn’s goal is that every child in Australia should love science.
Graham Mabury OAM
Graham established Lifeline WA in response to community request for counselling services. From
modest beginnings, Lifeline has grown into a 24-hour counselling and help service reaching out to
thousands of people looking for help.
Drisana Levitzke-Gray
The fifth generation in her family being born deaf, Drisana Levitzke-Gray, is devoted to helping
other deaf people and promote their human rights. She promotes the deaf community as one with no
limitations and that with rich culture, history , language, and traditions.
Stacy Dunbar
Stacy Dunbar lost her 8 month old son, Nate, when a drunk driver crashed into his bedroom. With
this huge loss, she displayed huge strength and dignity retaliating to the tragedy, making her
community a safer place to be.
Australian of the Year 2015 SA (South Australia)
Dr Gill Hicks MBE
Dr Gill almost died in July 2005, the blast in the tunnel between London’s King’s Cross and Russell
Square tube stations, with injuries so bad that didnt allow even her gender to be recognized. Her
work focuses on bringing violent extremism to a full stop and maintaining peace. She is a moving
motivational speaker, curator, author and trustee for many cultural associations.
John Swan
After gaining success first as a drummer, then as a singer with various iconic bands in the world,
John chose to help young musicians to concentrate on music instead of drugs and alcohol. A
representative Ovarian Cancer SA and a member of Music Matters which engages in performing in
hospitals and making ill people happy. Cofounder of the Autism Music Fund he also helps children
who need surgery.
Kristin Carson
The youngest senior medical research scientist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kristin is
accountable for more than 40 projects and 25 researchers. In the last five years, she has delivered 50
peer-reviewed publications and over 250 media citations, leading to patient care, policy and
practice. With the flair for respiratory problems, she has researched on asthma patients and their
management, which has now been followed and applied all over the world.
Vince Coulthard
Vince was the reason for the development and growth of South Australia’s first Native Title win
over the Flinders Ranges, awarded in 2009. Director of Umeewarra Aboriginal Media Service in
Port Augusta for twenty years, he safeguards the cultural individuality of the people fulfilling
various leadership positions. Vince has enhanced the lives of not only his own community, but
Australians as a whole.
Australian of the Year 2015 Tasmania
Rodney Croome AM
Rodney, a supporter of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) rights in Tasmania
and all over Australia, spent 26 years protesting against discrimination, for protection, and
acceptance of the same-sex relationships and families, including their marriage rights. He has also
worked undyingly and determined to improve educational and health related issues for LGBTI
people, especially for those in rural areas. His strong will power has improved Australia and also the
LGBTI families.
Professor Henry Reynolds
Henry was the first academic historian to stand up for Aboriginal land rights. Fighting for settlement
at a period when it was not heard of, Henry’s books have not just won awards, but they have
motivated people to accept Aboriginal history. His work has improved Australias understanding of
the past and has made way to a better future.
Adam Mostogl
Adam introduced illuminate SDF and also partners with many companies, including the University
of Tasmania and the Australian Maritime College, to motivate young people to hold on to their
creativity, understand business solutions, simplifying problems and change their idea of learning.
Mary Kay
Mary, who has run the Smithton Coast Guard radio from her house for 18 long years, begins every
day with weather forecasts and reports, taking information from fishermen and boaters at the Bass
Strait. She gets more than 5,000 calls every year, responding to grief signals from sailors,
fishermen, etc., helping the police officials and rescue teams of fishermen and sailors, helping the
police and coastguard with rescue information, saving lives.
Australian of the Year 2015 ACT (Australian Capital
Territory)
Glenn Keys
A chief in both business and humanity, Glenn Keys is about the attitude of giving back. A parent of
a child having intellectual disabilities, Glenn is ardent and strong headed in regard to those with
disability,helping them accomplish their potential. Chairman of Special Olympics ACT, he has been
working relentlessly to create openings for athletes with a disability,helping them to gain physical
fitness..Glenn inspires a lot of people in Australia to spare some time in helping people in need.
Sandra Mahlberg
Having a welcoming attitude,Sandra stands with open arms and open her heart, making her house a
home sick child. Sandra Mahlberg is the ACT coordinator for Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for
Children (ROMAC), a non-profit organization that helps out children from developing countries
who are troubled with severe medical conditions. Sandra’s dedication to this compassionate
enterprise has changed many lives.
Patrick Mills
The first original Australian to win the most renowned award in worldwide basketball, Patrick Mills
stands at the highest point in his game. Patrick is extremely proud about the knowledge he has
spread about his native heritage and has been working on a documentary showcasing the traditions
and culture of the people.
Damian de Marco
An icon of strength and courage against child abuse victims and the families, Damian has spent four
decades struggling and standing up against the crime preventing other kids from experiencing the
same that he did years back. With a strong mind, a lot of strength and zeal, he has done a lot against
child abuse.
Australian of the Year 2015 NT (Northern Territory)
Rosalie Kunoth-Monks OAM
Rosalie has been an interpreter,an environmental campaigner, a government adviser, and much
more also added to many trusts and councils dedicated to native issues. Compassionate about
education, children, law, justice, etc., Rosalie is very concerned about children besides her own and
does a lot for them,her community and her country.
Eddie Robertson
Eddie has been an inspiring and encouraging member of the Yuendumu community and the wider
Warlpiri and Central Australian communities all through his life. Someone who is enthusiastic and
ready to work with anyone and everyone, he is very well known for his capability of sound
compromises, and leading in everything, Eddie has done a lot to improvise lives of many.
Chantal Ober
Chantal has put into practice a number of ideas – from the YMCA Girls Program building spirit and
self-esteem, to winning on the management of the Katherine Region Youth Group which motivating
youth to open up and talk and lead the community. Chantal is a voiced advocate and an idol for
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth. Through all her work,whether non paid or paid, she
continues to be a leader and helps people better their lives.
Ray Palmer
Ray, who lost his son is a plane crash, has walked 400 kilometers in the heat, cycled through the
Nullarbor Plain and also shaved his mustache in order to create awareness and raise funds for the
Commando Trust Fund,that he started. Stepping forward to support a new generation of Australian
fighters, he escorted hurt and wounded army men through the Kokoda Trail several times. An
encouragement and a support, Ray, have left behind his own loss and grief in order to be a support
and mentor for others.

scheduled for them. It is an enjoyable moment for all the families that get entertained in the

Many of these activities take place around Sydney in Australia. The main place has marked the start
of this Australian day in Sydney. That is celebrations with the original customs and Australian flags
that are lifted up on the Harbor Bridge, and it is basically starting from 7:30am. All the Australian
people plan a picnic and take a trip to the sun block. In addition, give you the spot by the harbor, to
enjoy all the activities that are held over there. In the evening, the location of the Darling Harbor
becomes the site of more Australia Day acts that will be performed over there.
The Harbor event and Concert start from 6pm in the evening with all the great performers that are
followed by performing any events in Australia. This Day is one of the Spectacular place that is
filled with lights, loud music, and vibrant, colorful fireworks. That turns the sky with different
shinning particles. This place leads to different events that are held, and these events are running
whole day at the perspective location. You can also get more information about the events that are
held while the Australia day is celebrated.
This year, there are different competition such as the Sand Sculpting that is always held in the
Australia's team, that include the most talented and International Australian sculptors that are made
o sand ,which will bring to life the fabulous work created on the sand . This day, even Celebrates
the Disney Pixar, and regularly celebrating the memorable fun and trustful friendships that Disney
Pixar provides you.
All the Visitors of all age generation are warmly welcomed will be delightful and pleased honor.
The journey begins through the different types of exhibition and watching the sand sculptures of
idealistic Disney friends. This includes the Toy Story 3,the Cars, the Bugs Life and Wall-E and
several new recreation of Nemo and Monsters.
