9. OBSERVATIONS
Winter related activities require the most amount
of gear
Usually travel in groups
Gear often packed in roof racks
Multiple bags brought
Main items left behind were primarily leisure items
People don’t often like to stray too far from car,
lodge, campsite (homebase) due to inability to
transport gear
10. CURRENT EXPERIENCE
Gear is rounded up and packed into multiple bags.
Then pack into vehicle
Bags usually in trunk or back seat, boards and skis on
roof rack
Once arriving at the location all the gear is unpacked
Gear is put on (more layers, boots, gloves, etc)
Once everyone’s geared up, the bags get repacked and
ready to be carried to final location
Once to final location, bags are unpacked again, home
base is established, (Tent set up, fire built, etc)
11. MAIN PROBLEMS
Inability to carry all gear in a single bag
Difficulty carrying larger or bulky items
Difficulty carrying obtained items when out (firewood, game)
Cramped Vehicle space filled with both gear and people
