Dear Hiring Manager:
It has been my pleasure to have Ross in my Public Relations Writing class this semester. It has
been great getting to know him not only as a student, but as a person as well. He’s a quick study
when it comes to learning new writing styles and formats, and this class called for a lot of
balancing professional writing with more personal styles of writing, such as blog posts. Ross is a
great student in that he “hears” directions the first time and follows them – unlike some others.
Ross would be a great asset to any team. His outgoing personality and willingness to learn are
impressive. He also takes time to help other students who might be having difficulty with an
assignment or project, and works with other students to figure out solutions rather than coming to
me with problems. As a former department head at Turner Broadcasting, Ross would be
someone I would have loved to have as an employee.
In short, I would recommend Ross for any position he’s applying for. First, because he goes after
opportunities in a thoughtful way – he’s not just looking for an internship or a job, he seriously
considers what he wants and what would be a good fit for his skill set. Second, I have seen him
grow as a writer and as a person even in the short time I’ve known him. He’s an impressive guy,
and he deserves an opportunity to shine in a professional environment.
