What is a Man-Pack? Broadband capable, Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) compliant for overhead
storage on commercial aircraft.
What is a Fly-Away? Broadband capable, Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) compliant for checked
baggage on commercial aircraft with no overweight
restrictions..
3 /3 / Technological Life Cycle
 For many years, the technological life cycle was primarily associated
with computers, televisions, cellular phones, and similar small devices
 Starting in 2005, the technological lifecycle began to include the actual
satellites being launched
 Improved power
 Improved power management
 The improved capabilities of the satellites has allowed manufacturers to
reduce the size (aperture) of the remote terminals
 The reduced size of the terminals has allowed
 Reduction in terminal power needs (e.g. number of batteries)
 Which results in reduced weight
 Reduced weight and reduced power allow a modular approach in
engineering the satellite terminal resulting in easy to swap apertures
sizes, multiple swappable modems, and easy transition between
different bands
4 /4 / Tampa Microwave – Family of SATCOM Terminals
 Modular Family of SATCOM terminals for X, Ku, and Ka
(commercial and military bands)
 Common modules across entire family
 Specially designed for the
Light/Expeditionary/Dismounted User
 High performance, auto-assist tuning, lightweight
 No fans, AC/DC/battery power, No tools
 Rucksack transportable, FAA overhead or checkable
5 /5 / Family of Baseband
 Scalable Family of Baseband
 From Executive Comms to Tactical Tech Control Facility
 Common modules across entire family
 Engineered for Ease of Use
 No fans, AC/DC/battery power, No tools
 FAA overhead or checkable

Joint Special Operations Command
45cm, 65cm, 95cm, and 130cm VSATs
7 /7 / CopaSAT, North America
Match terminal with baseband
to provide expeditionary C4ISR
from small (two person) team
up to Command Post element
– common modules, common
components, on-demand
services; hardware re-
purposing; mission
configurable solution..
CopaSAT, N.A mission is to provide turnkey solutions
to customers requiring ruggedized, low-SWAP, high
throughput solutions focused on expeditionary and
continuity requirements.
The first provider of worldwide X, Ku, Ka, and Ku 30B
satellite services, hardware, and support personnel.
Continuity of Operations (COOP) and Contingency
Operations (On-Demand) capability for Natural and
Man-Made Disaster Scenarios
8 /8 / Future
 High throughput Satellites, such as INMARSAT Global Express, Intelsat
Epic, Quantum operational in near-term, e.g. 2017-2020).
 High Throughput Satellite (HTS) leading to continued reduction in
remote terminal size for same or better throughput.
 Increased ability to perform On the Move due to reduced antenna sizes
for all types of vehicles (Sea, air, land).
 Increased ability to perform MESH resulting in bandwidth savings (one
hop). Maybe true end to end service as simple as the cell phone is also
part of the future.
9 /9 / Partnering Opportunities for Polish Companies
 Integration
 Logistics
 Software Development/Translation
 Field Service Support
 Market Entry into non-MoD markets (e.g. Oil/Gas, First Responders,
Emergency Management)
 Facilities
 Current Polish Partners
 KenBIT
 Thales
