Lance Sergeant (LSgt) McDougall Character Statement
LSgt McDougall has served the Scots Guards since 2009. Throughout his career he
has impressed in every rank and position he has held. Within a year of joining the
Battalion, he was viewed as a promising Guardsman and was selected for the arduous
Junior Non-Commissioned Officer Cadre which he passed with a good grade and was
subsequently promoted to Lance Corporal.
He deployed on OP HERRICK 12 in 2010 in which he commanded an isolated
checkpoint. Throughout his deployment he earned a considerable amount of praise and
respect from his subordinates and chain of command alike.
On return to the UK, he was considered to be one of the best in his peer group and
was selected to attend numerous courses which tested him mentally and physically. On
completion he was promoted to Lance Sergeant (LSgt) and became a Section
Commander in October 2011. Due to his impressive leadership qualities he became an
instructor at the Infantry Training Centre, Catterick. He excelled in this position and won
numerous awards.
LSgt McDougall is a loyal and trustworthy individual who has exceeded all
expectations throughout his career. His ability to develop his subordinates into fine
soldiers, is impressive. LSgt McDougall has earned the respect of all members of the
Regiment including senior Officers, and he will be sorely missed. I wish him all the best in
his future endeavours.
