2. Post-war movies
After the war, there was an introduction of science fiction horror pictures,
because people were more fearful of the advance in science technology.
One of the earliest Sci-Fi films was in 1951;
‘The thing from another world’
After WW2, people wanted more entertainment
than the normal human faces as evil. Therefore
there was the introduction of mutants,
monsters and aliens.
The first 1950s movie to feature out of space
was called ‘Rocketship X-M’

3. People began to fear the nuclear weapons due to the war, and
had the fear of a future apocalypse, the horror movies of the
1950s then played on this fear, creating a vision destruction
created by non-humans.
Then, instead of creating chaos and disaster, humans represent
good, and unite against the common threat of monsters.
4. Low-budget
Low budget movies were made in the 1950s,
due to the lack of money after the war.
They were often known as the ‘B movies’
and shot in black and white. In many cases,
these films ended up making more profit than
the higher budget movies, due to their adapted
narratives to fit in with the post-war audience.

5. ‘Invasion of the body snatchers’ was the first
post-war film to refer to communism. The
alien invaders in the film made everybody
identical, which is very similar to what communists did.
This film played on the fear that communists would
take over and make every body the same, much like the
‘body snatchers’ in the 1956 film.
