Toni Morrison was an American novelist, essayist, editor, teacher, and professor emerita at Princeton University. Some of her notable works include The Bluest Eye, Sula, Song of Solomon, and Beloved, for which she won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. She explored themes of race, gender, history and identity in the African American experience.
