Dear Amazon,
My name is Roni Brown and I am interested in applying for the job of Environmental, Health &
Safety Specialist.
My background qualifies me for this position in several ways. Alcoa Wheels helped pay for my
education and took me under a three year apprenticeship that taught all of ALCOAs’ key
navigations of zero injury health & safety management and compliance. Also, I did many
incident reports and helped create new safety aspects for the problems at hand. While working
plus going to school; The Department Of Occupational and Safety & Health at UW-Whitewater
has prepared me to be successful in this field. As part of my Undergrad graduation requirements,
I spent a semester as an intern for the U.S. Department of Labor in Madison, WI. OSHA had
been instructed to conduct more enforcement on construction and roofing, because of the
incidents surrounding falls that was an issue in the last year. As the OSHA Intern, my
responsibilities included learning how to operate in the field and building FHB’s for an
inspection in Class 1, Division 1 and Division 2 locations, and FHB for Biohazardous materials
mixed in fire suppression. I was also taken to places like Nestle Purina in Jefferson, WI and
many other manufacturing companies to investigate incidents or do inspections. In the summer
of 2011, I was the safety manager for Tramont Corporation in Milwaukee, WI at which I was
doing my practicum. These internships gave me insight into what a career may entail in Safety &
Health working for OSHA or being the Safety manager that must keep compliances with the
regulations of government agencies.
In addition to my education and internship experiences, I have a multiple of other experiences
cited on my resume that exemplify my ability to work collaboratively with people and take a
leadership role. Also, I finished my Master’s program in Aug 30, 2012; along with a
Construction Management Certification and would love to continue bettering my knowledge in
health and safety. At one time, I was a Melting Lead for Alcoa Wheels, in which I had to ensure
the safety of my melting team and manage the delivery of quality metal to the casting plumes. I
was on the Alcoa wheels safety team for many years; in which management and the employees
work together by doing safety audits and also brainstorming to ensure the health & safety of the
employees.
One of the key initiatives that I have learned from working in the safety field is the importance of
people leaving out the same way they came in. I feel that my experience coincides with this
universal vision and I encourage you to contact me for an interview. Thank you for your time
and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Sincerely,
Roni Brown
